Video: Young Portugal fan consoles crying French supporter
It's fair to say this video could melt even the hardest of hearts.
In the aftermath of the Euro 2016 final, in which hosts France narrowly lost to 2004 runner-up Portugal, a young Portuguese fan was captured on camera consoling a supporter of Les Bleus in the fan zone.
At the culmination of a tournament which at times showed the ugly side of football, the young fan’s gesture has captured hearts around the world.
Wearing a Portugal shirt, the young boy approaches the French fan and pats him on the arm, before the two embrace.
The ‘beautiful game’ indeed.
