McKinnon handed Brechin City post

Brechin City have appointed SFA coach Ray McKinnon as their new manager to replace Jim Weir, who was dismissed 11 days ago, with the 42-year-old seeing off a long list of candidates for the job.

McKinnon, who played for Dundee United, Aberdeen, and Livingston as well as Nottingham Forest and Luton Town, has management experience from a stint at Lochee Juniors and has worked with the SFA since 2010.

The Glebe Park side sit third bottom of the Second Division, having lost their last five league games.

Club secretary Gus Fairlie said: “Hopefully we can start moving up the way in the table under Ray’s guidance.”
