Highland League: Russell Duncan’s debut washed out

RUSSELL Duncan waited what seemed a lifetime for a full 90 minutes of action – and then saw it blown away in a rainstorm.

The derby between Brora Rangers and Wick Academy was abandoned at the break due to high winds at Dudgeon Park.

Unlucky Duncan, snapped up from Ross County as a trialist for Brora, saw his debut swept away as a result. There was no change at the league summit, with Cove Rangers’ home tie against Fraserburgh postponed by the gales just 45 minutes before kick-off.

Buckie Thistle entertained Lossiemouth but this tie also fell foul of the weather. Huntly did manage to host Keith in one of only two games to go ahead. A Cammy Keith double and one from Jonathan Smith sealed the win, with Pat Vigurs getting a consolation for the home side.

Strathspey notched only their third win of the season after a 1-0 victory at Rothes. Gavin Chisholm struck in first-half injury time to seal it for the Jags.
