UK News: Train blaze victim 'committed suicide'

A WOMAN killed when a fire broke out in a toilet on a commuter train is believed to have committed suicide, sources said.

British Transport Police said the 43-year-old was travelling yesterday on the London-bound train, which had left Northampton at 4.25pm, when the blaze occurred.

Body of sex attacker's sister to be exhumed

The dead sister of a convicted child sex attacker will be exhumed from a graveyard today by police investigating sexual abuse.

Belinda "Binny" Day, a 27-year-old mother-of-three whose older brother Adrian "Tommy" Dance was jailed for 21 years last year for a string of rapes and sexual assaults, threw herself from cliffs in Devon, in March 1989.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they had evidence she was the victim of "rape and serious sexual assault".

Clegg's aid for business

Nick Clegg will join former Cabinet minister Lord Heseltine today to unveil plans to invest 450m in businesses across England aimed at creating or safeguarding 100,000 jobs.

Fifty bids by companies and partnerships to promote economic growth and create new jobs will be given financial support under the first round of the so-called Regional Growth Fund.

Somerset: Police have linked the deaths of a businessman shot at his village home and another man whose body was found in a nearby churchyard shortly afterwards.

Raymond Masters died not long after officers arrived at his property in Westbury-sub-Mendip, near Cheddar, in Somerset on Sunday night.

Their inquiries led them to the body of Michael Harper.

London: Mayor Boris Johnson has paid tribute to his deputy, Sir Simon Milton, who has died aged 49.

Sir Simon, who died yesterday, was deputy mayor for policy and planning and Mr Johnson's chief of staff.
