Lothian fraud cases plunge

THE number of fraud cases in Lothian and Borders fell by four per cent last year, new figures have shown.

A total of 1691 frauds were recorded in the area between last April and March, compared with 1764 for the same period in the previous year.

Officers have so far solved 54 per cent of the cases from the last year.

The fall comes after consultants KPMG revealed that fraud cases in Scotland were halved in the past year, to six cases worth 3.06 million in that period.
