Charity walk to raise funds for disease

FUNDRAISERS are setting off on a five-mile walk from Edinburgh Castle to raise money for the fight against bowel cancer.

Organised by Bowel Cancer UK, the event will see participants leave the Castle's esplanade and walk down the Royal Mile, before going around Holyrood Park and finishing up at the Scottish Parliament.

Andrew Moffatt, director of fundraising at Bowel Cancer UK, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to get together with your family and friends and do something amazing for both the awareness of bowel cancer and your own health.

"Regular exercise such as walking has been proven to help reduce the risk of bowel cancer, so come along and put a real spring in your step, whilst helping save lives."

Those interested in registering for the walk should e-mail [email protected] or call 020 7386 4006. Participants can also register at www.bowelcanceruk.org.uk

Registration fees for the sponsored walk are 10 for adults and 5 for children, with children under five free.
