GORDON Brown was at Balmoral this weekend with the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, with the future of the Union between England and Scotland expected to feature in the conversation over tea and scones.
But unlike his predecessor Tony Blair, the new Prime Minister decided not to attend yesterday's world-famous Braemar Gathering and Highland Games.

Insiders expected issues such as the future of the United Kingdom to feature in the primarily social discussions.

SNP First Minister Alex Salmond will also visit Balmoral to meet the Queen later this month. And next month he will visit Birkhall on the Balmoral Estate to meet Prince Charles.

An SNP spokesman declined to discuss the agenda for Salmond's meeting with the Queen, saying it was right that his discussions with the monarch should remain confidential.

No 10 took a similar line over Brown's visit. Officials refused to say why he had not attended the gathering, but added that the decision was made some weeks ago. Whitehall sources admitted it would be "inconceivable" if the issue of the UK failed to feature during the weekend.

Do not make a fuss. Poor Gordon Brown will be in trouble with his spin doctors if he has the faintest whiff of Scottishness. Any advertising executive would of course tell him he is making a big mistake. Beechgrove Garden anyone?

He didn't want to go to the games for fear of being booed; or laughed at for wearing his union jack underpants under his kilt.

'GORDON Brown was at Balmoral this weekend with the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, with the future of the Union between England and Scotland expected to feature in the conversation over tea and scones.'
What a load of crap! I think there are other important topics that the Queen would like to be briefed about, such as Iraq, the economy as well as asking Brown how he likes being Prime Minister and just how long does he reckon to be in the job

I can't get used to him being called the Prime Minister yet. Every time they say "The Prime Minister, Gordon Brown" on the news, it startles me, like ... "When did that happen? Have I slipped into a parallel word?"

Let Brown and his Champagne socialist Party allow
the people of Scotland decide whether they wish to remain in a debauched decadent union; rather than discuss it with outmoded medieval foreign royal parasitic parasites. Broony's nose has more off the Brown stuff clogging it, than the other previous Brown nosed Blair! Wake up Broony, this is the 21st century, not the 13th or 14th just in case your dim prudent memory has failed you?
