A MAN has been detained by police after a disturbance at the Commonwealth Games athletes’ village in Glasgow.

Officers were called to the site in Dalmarnock in the east end of the city at about 6am on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old is currently being held by police.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 6am on Wednesday police received a report of a disturbance. A 30-year-old man is currently detained.”

The village has its own pub, post office, beauty salon, mini-hospital and shops on the 35-hectare site.

It cost around £230million to build the 700-house village, which hosts around 4,500 competitors and another 2,300 support staff from the 71 countries taking part.
