The celebs' favourite way to achieve a quick, streak-free, natural-looking tan without using sunbeds (or getting orange smears all over your sheets).
How does it work? Although I've applied fake tan myself – with the predict
ably patchy results – I've never had a salon treatment so wasn't sure what to expect. As I stood starkers in a darkened room wearing little more than a shower cap, my therapist had me strike a series of unflattering poses – arms up, legs out, turn around – as she sprayed me down with the tanning product, occasionally smoothing down patches with a soft mitt to ensure an even finish. The shade can be as light or as dark as you want and I'd already requested a natural-looking colour – the last thing I wanted was to be Tango'ed the day before my holidays. And, because the product is cooled as it is applied, I was able to put my clothes back on straight away.
Strip off or cover up? For the best coverage, it's down to the skimpiest of knickers, though you could get away with wearing a bikini top too if you're a bit shy.
Who is it for? No one wants to be the whitest new arrival on the beach, so get a quick blast before you jet off on your hols. Going to a wedding or a ball? It'll set your strapless frock off nicely. Then again, lots of people don't need an excuse (see below).
Celebrity or Z-list following? Girls Aloud, Charlotte Church and the cast of Emmerdale have all indulged in a spot of Naturasun. So if it's good enough for Cheryl Cole…
Does it work? As ordered, I had a natural-looking, healthy, even glow that lasted around five days into my holiday, by which time the sun had had a chance to catch up. The slightly toasty scent disappeared after a couple of days.
How much is it? £20 for a 15-minute session, or three for £50.
