SIR SEAN Connery added another glittering award to his collection yesterday in the picturesque surroundings of Rome's Capitol Hill.
The Scots actor, in Italy for the city's film festival, received the Il Campidoglio award in honour of his outstanding career in film.

This latest tribute follows a successful week for Connery, who was honoured with a lifetime achievement award on the eve of the first Rome Film Festival on Thursday night.

The 76-year-old guest of honour at the opening concert at Rome Opera House said the award was "fantastic".

Festival president Goffredo Bettini said Connery was recognised for "his fame, popularity and his brilliance".

The festival, which runs until Thursday, had a dazzling start with a gala screening of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait Of Diane Arbus, starring Nicole Kidman. Other movies being shown in the event's premiere section include The Prestige, the new film from Batman Begins director Christopher Nolan.
