Who is your political hero, and why?
Margaret Denholm, Renfrewshire

Winston Churchill, because when the threat against freedom had never been greater, he showed judgment, shrewdness, leadership and courage - and all at an age when other people would have contemplated quiet retiremen

Do you accept that the Scottish people will never forgive you for the damage inflicted under Margaret Thatcher and John Major?

Stevie Harding, Glasgow

The political climate in Scotland has changed a lot since the days of Margaret Thatcher and John Major, when they had to chart a direction from the old economy of Scotland to the new. That direction was what gifted Gordon Brown his golden economic legacy. Many years later, we are standing up for everyone in Scotland.

Will the Conservatives play a constructive role when the Executive puts forward its plans for a fairer replacement for the council tax?

J K Richmond, Lochwinnoch

The SNP and Lib Dem proposal for a Local Income Tax is a tax on hard working families and couples who are already paying income tax. We want the Executive to introduce a 50% council tax discount for all pensioner households.

Can you guarantee that the Conservatives will not support a referendum on Scottish independence?

Alexander Lightfoot, Warwickshire

Our policy is to make devolution work, not to promote Alex Salmond's agenda. We believe in delivery, not divorce, which is why we have been pushing the SNP Executive for delivery on issues like school discipline, law and order, pensioner council tax discount and drug abuse, to mention a few. We do not support a referendum on Scottish independence.

Is it time for the Scottish Tories to cut the ties that bind you to the UK Conservatives?

Jane Moir, Edinburgh

I do not think many people will agree that David Cameron is abandoning core Tory principles. We work as a team and I want that team to be strengthened, not weakened.

You look remarkably like Tony Hadley, Spandau Ballet's singer. Are you related?

Donny Coutts, East Lothian

No.

Time for a new more open minded leader I think.

The real reason the Conservatives don't want a local income tax is because they remain wedded to the rich and powerful, the wealthy elite. Those elitists don't want to pay a fair tax on their income they prefer the vast majority to pay outrageously large council tax bills, the son of their infamous Poll tax.

On leaving the UK (in truth the English) party, this is logical and would help both parties to succeed long term however Ms Goldie is stuck in a time warp where she can't see further than old Winston. Not a lot of originality going on in there is there!

On a referendum on independence despite the fact that a lot of the business community actually support independence, or if they don't still want a say on it,. Ms Goldie fails the acid test on this as well, 'we must stick with our glorious out dated union' she cries, well that really worked for Thatcher and Major (not to mention John Major and Michael Howard) didn't it!

The Tories are rightly detested for the thatcher years but they are also disliked for their refusal to grant devolution when Scots clearly wanted it and indeed had actually voted for it in 1979. Thei shocking betrayal of the Scottish people after pretending tha they would provide a more powerful assembly was sickening an they deserve the electoral devastation that they have suffered since then. One look at 'Lord Forsyth' shows the Tories for what they really are, and they haven't changed a bit.

'Call me Dave' might have a nicer smile than Tony but his party never puts Scotland's interest first which is why it will never succeed up here and will never deserve to either.

#1 Joe Are you an SNP plant? Your virulently anti-Conservative views suggest you are stuck in a time-warp. What does the phrase "putting Scotland's interests first" actually mean?

It means seeing Scotland as equal with other nations with the same rights and responsibilities and opportunities but as you're a Tory I'm not surprised you can't understand the concept!
