Ryder Cup reckoning
NICK Faldo has held out hope for Colin Montgomerie making Europe's Ryder Cup team despite the Scots' slide down the rankings in recent months.
Faldo admitted he is relishing the challenge of making his two wild-card choices for this year's match against the USA, despite so many of his seasoned performers languishing on the points list and sitting outside the automatic berths.
Montgomerie, who is in 13th spot, declared this week that making the European squad for Valhalla now holds more significance to him than winning a Major. However Faldo did reveal that including more experience in his line-up is not one of his top priorities.
"Colin wants to play his way in, as does everybody," Faldo said. "Obviously even though he's kind of out of it, Monty could make a big move here, have a good finish. I'm looking at everybody. Everybody has a real opportunity and I want them to play hard so I've got the guys who are currently on form.
"If the team was picked right now, pretty close to half the team would be rookies. So I'm going to be getting that transition of a new team coming in."
