PRINCE William and Prince Harry toured a cold and rain-lashed Wembley Stadium in London yesterday as they inspected the final preparations for today's Concert for Diana.
They were taken around the £800m arena and given an insight into the work of staff who are putting the finishing touches to the event.

The princes are putting on the celebration to commemorate their mother's life 10 years after she died in a car crash.

The performers include Joss Stone, Lily Allen, Rod Stewart, Natasha Bedingfield, James Morrison and Sir Elton John. Today would have been the Princess's 46th birthday.

First stop for William and Harry was the sound mixing desk in the middle of the pitch at Wembley Stadium. Sound designer Derek Zieba told them his job was to ensure the performing artists sounded good and explained that when the stadium was full the sound quality would be even better.

The royal brothers were then taken through a large trailer that will be the nerve centre for broadcasters. They were given another brief description of the art of putting together footage from a concert by director Janet Fraser Crook.

She joked with the princes and said: "We have a camera on the royal box, but only the dancing will be shown."

Why should these two overprivileged numpties be given free rein over Wembley Stadium? It's time to abolish the monarchy and get rid of these wastes of space. I feel sorry for anyone who loses their mother when they are young, but their lifestyle at the expense of the tax payer is totally unacceptable and I don't see why it should be headline news.

Because its a fundraiser concert for charities, ones that help people. I realize no one does fundraisers for people anymore, just the environment, but there are actually people living in that environment, many of whom need help.

And it is a memorial of an extraordinary humanitarian, and a credit to her that she can still help the living.

I do not think that Princess Diana was "extraordinary" - in fact, she was a self-absorbed, bi-polar narcissist who manipulated ever person and every organisation she was involved with.

I am glad that the concert is a fundraiser for various charitiesa and Diana had the good fortune to be born on Canada's day of celebration - HAPPY 104TH BIRTHDAY CANADA!

That should have been:

HAPPY 140TH BIRTHDAY CANADA! Sorry.

#4 You have a go at other people for having opinions ... but you reveal yourself to be a lot worse with your posting at #3.

Happy Birthday Canada ... rein in your own loonies!

I have just watched the concert on TV and full marks go to everyone involved in organising this wonderful event. Diana would have been proud of her boys.

I never really liked Diana - but she was better than Fergie (not the one who performed today).

But it was good to see it was supported by both her children - William - her son with Charles, and Harry - her son with Hewitt.

Oh Helen, Helen, Helen. Don't blame them just becuae they're born wealthy and your not. Such hate for two young guys you don't even know and will probably never even get to meet. So smile Helen, otherwise you'll begin to get even more wrinkles

Timothy Charles Wingate. I see you've been reading all these trashy books written about a woman who no longer can defend herself. Just look back and thing of the good she's done for the Aids cause, shaking hands without wearing gloves, the landmines, drawing attention to the many hospices and charities that without her involvement wouldn't have raised a dime. I must say, for you to call her all those names, one question. Have you ever met her, or for that matter spoken to her. I figured the answer is no. It's like me saying that about your mother without knowing her. Such idiots in this world, its unbelievable!

My MY MY, what a vile breath of air Helen and Mr. Wingate are. 1st. The Princes do not live at the taxpayers expense. Before opening your mouth,m check your facts. Did you ever hear of something called The Crown Properties? Well this is a porfolio that the Queen handed to the goverment. It contains all of the property that the crown owns, NOT THE GOVERMENT AND NOT THE TAXPAYERS. The CIVIL LIST MONEY comes from the rents that are collected on THE QUEENS PROPERTY. A PORTION OF THIS MONEY IS GIVEN TO THE QUEEN EVERY YEAR FOR HER AND THE DUKE OF EDINBURGHS SUPPORT. This money actually belongs to the Queen, NOT THE GOVERMENT and not THE TAXPAYERS. IT IS NOT MANDATORY THAT THIS PORTFOLIO BE TURNED OVER AT THE START OF A NEW REIGN. Prince William and Prince Harry are supported by the Duchy of Cornwall. They and Prince Charles DO NOT RECIEVE ANY CIVIL LIST MONIES WHATSOEVER. By the way, Prince Charles did suggest and so did Tony Blair, when everyone was in an uproar about the Queen paying income tax, that maybe this portfolio should be handed back to the Queen since itr garners over 100 million pounds in revenue a year. Parliament immediately decide to leave it up to the Queen as to how much percentage of tax she pay a year. Now it seems to me that the goverment is actually a parasite by using money that legally and rightfully belongs to the Queen to fund public projects. And to pay themselves.

Helen and Mr Wingate -

I appreciate that you are jealous of people that contribute to society - as you clearly don't.

I hope you both get the help you need. Your local GP should be the first step.....

#12 Edinburghs ...

Since we have never met how can you possibly know if I contribute to society or not? Are you some kind of self-proclaimed clairvoyant consumed with arrogance and envy?

As a matter of fact I DO contribute to society in many ways but will not list them here as I value my privacy and do not appreciate the senseless ramblings of some nonentity from Edinburgh.

Your bloody-mindedness is highly evident as is your intolerance to those that disagree with you.

I do have a GP and he says I am perfectly normal and sane. What does your beleaguered GP say about you #12?

It may make for interesting reading but I don't have the time to know about the boring lives of some - very few, indeed - of the delusional posters in this forum, like you #12.
