by James MacKenzie, St Cyrus

"I'd just finished taking some shots of Buachaille Etive Mor and was making my way back to Glencoe when I spotted a pair of stags enjoying the late-March sunshine," says 39-year-old James MacKenzie. "I managed to snurgle to within 25ft and took several shots, looking for that classic 'monarch of the glen' image. Between the heat haze and the gnats bombarding my ear, it wasn't easy as it sounds."

Can you do better than this? We are looking for the best amateur photography in Scotland. The choice of subject – people, industry, nature, scenery – doesn't matter. The pictures just have to be eye-catching.
