Councillors set to honour clubs' success

COUNCILLORS are being asked to recognise the success of the Highlands' two Scottish league football teams.

A motion tabled for Highland Council's meeting on Thursday aims to pay tribute to Inverness Caledonian Thistle's promotion to the Scottish Premier League and Ross County's progress to the Scottish Cup final this month, beating Celtic on the way.

The motion will be presented by Sandy Park, the council convener; Dr Michael Foxley, the leader of the administration; and Jimmy Gray, the Inverness Provost.

Councillor Park said: "This motion is a way of highlighting our pride in the achievements of our two Scottish league sides. For Inverness Caledonian Thistle to bounce back into the Premier League at the first time of asking and Ross County to reach the Scottish Cup final is just great for the Highlands and well worthy of civic recognition."
