It's not really a jazz compilation, but this generous 23-track CD does have something to offer the jazz fan – not least contributions from two of the most sublime jazz vocalists, Lee Wiley and Peggy Lee, as well as notable performances from Connee Boswell, Lena Horne and Teddi King. Most of the numbers are now forgotten songs recorded by unfamiliar singers, however, and there is a high proportion of syrupy, sentimental slush. And how did Julie Andrews find her way in there?
