Relentless CDREL18, £9.99
The poster boy of English folk rock has put more emphasis on the latter part of that equation, resulting in a record that sounds both traditional and contemporary.

'Feather In The Storm' flits and flutters above the general seafaring theme, anchored by 'Crimson Dawn' and 'Blood Red Sky' and detailed to even greater effect in 'Solomon Browne', about the 1981 Penlee lifeboat disaster. It typifies Lakeman's narrative songwriting style. He invests it with an energy powered by the buoyant percussion of opener 'The Hurlers'.
