DAVID Cameron has installed Annabel Goldie in his shadow Cabinet in London as part of his strategy to bring Holyrood and Westminster closer together.
Goldie, below, leader of the Scottish Conservatives, will attend shadow Cabinet meetings once a month as the Tories attempt to build stronger links between Edinburgh and London in the run-up to the General Election.

She will become the first Scottish Tory leader regularly to attend meetings of the shadow Cabinet, where she will be a shadow first minister.

The break with tradition is another indication of Cameron's desire to make devolution work more effectively and also shows his determination to ensure that he increases the number of Tory politicians at Holyrood and Westminster.

Cameron has been fiercely critical of the fractious relationship between SNP ministers in Edinburgh and the UK Labour Government. He has pledged to work closely with the SNP if he defeats Labour at the General Election.

Goldie said: "Gordon Brown and Alex Salmond do not meet with each other to stand up for the people of Scotland. David Cameron and I will."

That can only be seen as a smack in the mouth to David Mundell, who is allegedly the shadow Secretary of State for Scotland....

He's not well liked by the Tory MSP's after branding them all 'clueless' saying:

"Whilst it is possible to agree in principle that the party in Scotland can make its own policy on devolved matters, the simple lack of thinkers is apparent." Ouch...

The Tories they have one MP in SCOTLAND do you honestly think that will change, NO!! There is just a small point of a Referendum on INDEPENDENCE before the next general election, the result will be that David Cameron will be the PM of england and Wales, and nothing else. Roll on INDEPENDENCE DAY and get rid of this pathetic union with england.

It's what every unionist MSP has wet dreams about - promotion to London.

David Cameron is certainly hopeful, if nothing else, about the future prospects of the Scots Tories at the next General Election.

However, 10 years after being led to the edge of political extinction, the Lost Tribe is still wandering about aimlessly without any role in the post-Devolution landscape of Scotland.

The Scots Tory Party has only ONE MP at Westminster and, if it had not been for the PR voting system at Holyrood, it would probably have very few MSPs.

IT will take a political revival of evangelical proportions to convince the mass of the Scots Electorate ever to vote for this political party again.

#5 no-one will defect to another treachourous british party. An unelected scots msp will join the cabinet of an unwanted british institution.

Great Aunty Annabelle may be currently seen as the more accept-abelle face of Scottish Conservatives but on the whole the Tory Party is not a nice beast.

It never was and it never will be so stop kidding yourselves that they would solve this nations problems.

The Conservative and Unionist Party represents the worst excesses of capitalism with no social and little moral conscience at their core. In large part they are responsible for the corporate greed culture that New Labour failed to redress when Blair came to power.

We eventually reap what we sow and the Tories are the "grim reaper" in all this mess.

It's a good move for David Cameron to take Annabel Goldie into the Shadow Cabinet. He knows perfectly well that although there will be more than the present 1 Tory MP elected there will still be a minority of Scottish Tory MPs after the next UK general election which will result in a UK tory government hopefully.

I am quite sure he will give more powers to Holyrood with proper tax powers. Is there any other Parliament in the world that can't raise taxes? It will be Goldie's job to to advise him on this.

To be fair to the Tories they have been a far more effective and constructive opposition than the Labour muppets.

Nevertheless it is far too little to late,Scotland has rumbled the Union and it's on its last legs. You never know freed of Westminster the Tories might enjoy a slight revival in an independent Scotland.

Its a good enough idea I suppose. If they want to strengthen links between Holyrood and Westminster, esp as David Cameron will probably be the next PM. But no way is Goldie shadow First Minister that is totally ridiculous! Her pathetic little party is only joint third in Holyrood!

And when Cameron is elected PM they could make her Baroness Goldie and she could be the Scottish Secretary, David Mundell would be sick as a parrot!

It's beginning to look as if Annabelle could be a useful alternative to the socialistic tax and spend of Labour, SNP and Lib-Dems. However why did she allow the Conservatives to get drawn into the Calman Commission as it's just a Brown monologue?

Will what? meet each other or stand up for Scotland. Some how I really can't see David Cameron standing up for Scotland.

#17 He would be wasting his time turning up to listen to a couple of fannyheads like Cameron and Goldie. For Christ's sake man, the Tories have no chance up here. They are a middle class Home Counties English Conservative Party who careth not about anything north of the M4. Realiise this. If you do, a dawn of enlightenment will shine through your bedroom window one day and smack you on the head.
