Iraqi president wants Turkish partnership

IRAQ'S president said yesterday he was seeking a "strategic" partnership with Turkey, as he ended a visit aimed at easing tension sparked by Turkey's eight-day military mission inside Iraq.
Jalal Talabani, who was addressing a Turkish-Iraqi joint business group, also called on Turkish companies to invest in Iraq, and said increased oil revenues had enabled his country to meet payments.

The offensive against Kurdish rebels, who have been launching attacks on Turkey from bases in northern Iraq, ended a week ago.

Talabani said Kurdish rebels would not be tolerated inside its borders.
