SCOTLAND is becoming increasingly attractive to an army of migrants from south of the border, new figures reveal.
Almost 60,000 people are moving to Scotland from the rest of the UK every year, attracted by the quality of life and relative affordability of housing.

The influx means that although the country's birth rate is failing to keep up with deaths, the
population is growing slightly.

Experts said the migration is too widespread to threaten any real dilution of Scotland's distinctive culture.

The figures were published by the Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBoS), based on information from the Office for National Statistics. In the decade between 1996 and 2006, a total of 589,245 people moved to Scotland, mainly from England. In the same period, 487,528 Scots left for other parts of the UK.

Martin Ellis, chief economist at HBoS, said: "In overall population terms, the last decade has seen a relatively-small increase in Scotland, which marks a reversal of the previous trend which saw population decline north of the border.

"Interestingly, the growth in Scotland's population is being fuelled mostly by incomers from other parts of the UK."

Younger people were lured by the thriving economy, Ellis said. "The booming financial services sector has seen thousands of jobs relocated from London to Edinburgh and Glasgow. The relative affordability of housing in Scotland is also a significant attraction.

"Quality of life is the chief attraction for families, who can enjoy the slower pace of Scotland's uncrowded Highlands and small towns. And Scotland also has strong appeal for older people who have perhaps capitalised in the rise in value of their properties." Scotland's population is becoming more mixed but, Ellis believes, not enough to threaten the Scottish identity.

Other figures show some startling trends in England. Over the last decade 4.5 million people have fled London but have been replaced by migrants from other parts of the UK and overseas. Most are young people seeking work.

Later this year, Birmingham, which has a large Asian community, could become the first UK city which no longer has a majority white population.

The last paragraph holds the clue. This is the result of NULAB's suicidal immigration policies. They are fleeing English cities like the plaque, and not just to here.
Wales,Spain,France,Australia, NZ you name it.

Unfortunately, this and the other annual 30,000 immigrants from the 3rd world , Scottish culture and identity is being swamped in a sea of political correctness ,multiculture , and polyethnic nothingness.

Sit back and observe the diversity agenda take hold, central to which is the necessary cultural levelling including the Scots ethnicity, culture ,heritage , language to make way for the "new Scots" about to "enrich" us . A mirror image of what's happened in England and causing the current exodus. Scotland needs a new political party ,soon before it's too late.

Good news! People coming to live in Scotland, enriching our society and culture. Only narrow ethnic nationalists need fear this development. Maybe if the cities brushed their teeth they wouldn't suffer from the plaque!

Quite a number of English gentlemen have joined our company over the last wee while (number of years).
They all gave of course varied reasons as to why they "migrated".
Do you know what the most prevolent answer was ........"I want to live in a land where I am not in the minority colour".
Take it from me - Many more English will end up living in Scotland in the future.I'm only going by THEIR quotes.

The good news is I'm staying put and have no intention of moving anywhere further north than I already am! The wind blows straight though me as it is!

The bad news is all the skiving, benefit dependent scum new labour has let into the country ARE setting their sights on Scotland now we've had just about enough of them...

"Scotland's population is becoming more mixed but, Ellis believes, not enough to threaten the Scottish identity."

Identity is not culture. Twit.

Poisonous white-settlers have a remarkable talent for wrecking any community they pitch up uninvited into, incapable and unwilling of learning anything to do with the people or land they currently occupy (cosy in the illusion that it is some how home).
Our sigh, when they enter the room, the astonishment at how their every move is wrong, the annoyance at the fact they're always so loud, the remarks at their ignorance, their arrogance and their theft of all that is sacred, their institutions that only employ their kind, all in so many ways interfering with our life and culture, always promoting degradation, dissolution and deterioration of our ways.
English TV makes it all O.K.

Time to kick out the english system, their media and their non-culture.

If your not invited by community **** off.

As for Mohammedans, I cannot think of a more retrogressive set of ideals which should be ejected outright.

Yeah, you see it, we just need to enlighten the other brainwashed Scots to the truth.

There is no such thing as Multi-cultural,
only multi-ethnic.If a culture suddenly has multiple "cultural input" it then ceases to become a culture at all.Commercial aspirations run riot.

Islands are a very fine balance and demand a ruthless application for entry and a lethal border patrol.

The english have ruined the South of Britain and we will not have that here.

Independence from scum.

Invation not migration, I note no breakdown of ethnic make up.

Whole cities in England hardly speak English, no go areas held by Muslims.

EU loosing the war by the most inciduous invation in world history.

No. 2 A Scalloway - Typically naive comment, you should have tried to understand the point No. 1 was making. The reality is there to see as Mr Dimbleby a few years back said "We have something of a White Flight north".

Immigration has been going on for centuries, but it was at a pace where assimilation and integration took place with relative ease. The rate and amount of migration now allows whole communities to simply transplant with little need to integrate. This does not make for a healthy political society.

Do you feel concerned by the staff shortages in the city’s Indian restaurants?
No, I don’t really like Indian food
Yes, I think it will mean a fall in quality
They’re businessmen, they’ll find a way around it.
