St Mirren 1-1 Hearts: Hearts good for the point

ST MIRREN 1

HEARTS1

HAVING been freed once and for all from the constricting shackles of a relegation battle, courtesy of Gretna, St Mirren will feel the pain of losing a late, late equaliser a little less than they would have
this time a week ago. Hearts deserved at least the point they left Love Street with, but the home team will nonetheless be disappointed not to have held on for maximum points.

For a long period it looked like Hearts' profligacy would come back to haunt them and go a long way to killing off their hopes of forcing a European place. With a starting line-up picked with Tuesday night clearly in mind, Saints had struggled for the most part to make a telling impact against a far more physically capable Gorgie line-up.

With the exception of a wild Ian Maxwell free kick and the customary midfield bursts from Andy Dorman, the home team failed to trouble Steve Banks in any way throughout a one-sided opening period. Ruben Palazuelos fizzed a shot from distance narrowly wide after five minutes with Calum Elliott doing likewise soon after as Stevie Frail's men dominated.

There were further problems for the Buddies when, on the half-hour mark, central defender John Potter was carried from the field of play seemingly out cold after taking a boot in the face from Jamie Mole. With replacement Andy Millen still looking to get up to speed with the game it took a great stop from Chris Smith to repel Andy Driver as the young winger bore down on goal after cutting a swathe through a posse of striped jerseys.

The second half immediately promised more of the same as Hearts roared out of the blocks only to again be denied by the agility of Smith. This time it was Elliott left cursing the young keeper who somehow kept out his Scotland Under-21 colleague's rising volley only seconds after the restart.

Hearts continued to boss the game, yet it was Saints who made the breakthrough as a former Tynecastle favourite notched his first goal for his new club and taught his old employers a harsh lesson on the importance of taking your chances. Craig Dargo nodded an Ian Maxwell free kick into the path of strike partner Jim Hamilton who from seven yards fired home the type of clinical finish he has made his stock in trade throughout a nomadic career.

Understandably stunned at finding themselves behind, Hearts looked to hit back and nearly did so, Elliott coming close with a curling effort Smith this time could only watch. At the other end Dargo played in Dorman who saw his volley beat Banks only to come off the inside of the far post.

Without warning, the game had exploded into life amidst an increasingly fractious atmosphere, with the home fans, and to be fair the dugout, complaining apoplectically at the performance of referee Willie Collum who was consistent only in his ability to miss just about everything, and make every decision a baffling one. Collum has been fast-tracked by the SFA, though on this petty performance it was hard to fathom exactly why.

To their credit Hearts kept plugging away in search of the equaliser they certainly deserved, and just as they looked to be running out of time against a stubborn home rearguard it duly arrived. Saulius Mikoliunas had time and space to get away a shot which wrong-footed Smith and bobbled into the net. Incredibly, Saints had two chances through the dangerous Dorman to win it inside stoppage times, only for the Welshman to miss by inches.

Another game in which Gollum the ref has to be the man in the spotlight. They must get some bright light training at park gardens these days.

He spoiled a decent game in midweek between Hibs and Motherwell, and now he is taking it out on poor St Mirren.

Come on hearts we need you in the top six for the extra 3 points and our Euro push.

It's a bit empty in here at the moment, something like love street away end these days.

Where are all the Jambo's??????
Lucky to escape with a point.
Big team? Maybe of the bottom six.
Nice to read that the "Top" younsters in europe want nothing to do with you laughing stock of a club

I can't speak for all the Jambo's, but personally - I'm just waiting a bit longer for the usual assiorted misshapes from the other side of Edinburgh to post their juvenile, moronic drivel.

Although #2 has set the bar so high, I fear it may deter the rest.

Another poor result and even poorer performance from Hearts.
We will splutter along until the manager position is sorted out.
A word in Shaggy's ear...Elliot & Mole are mince, and please drop Robbie for the rest of the season, the guy was about as bad as you can get yesterday.
Oh! and he wasn't the only one.

I take it the ref has shoebox of of some dodgy East European currency stashed under his bed. H**rts were out and out thugs and cheats yet it was the Buds that had three players booked. For an outfit that still gets impressive crowds in their own manor, the purple menace brought through a very small proportion of their home support. A case of Glasgow bigot style gloryhunters, methinks..............

Ukio Bankas

Are not immune to the severe credit crisis affecting even large banks like Bear Stearns. They will be taking hits. Hearts are totally reliant on the loans from Ukio. If these are called in Hearts go bust. No arguement. It would happen really fast. The Plumber may have his day yet.

Anton, ypu've to be congratulated for the perseverance in your facade and you certainly get on the wicks of a few Jambos who take themselves a bit too seriously.
On saying that you slipped up in your other post: "That's the way Anatoly." hmmm, sounds like your grasp of colloquial English is pretty good. Gotta keep it tighter than that my man. Keep up the good work!

Gorgie's Finest,

Another day S.O.S. from the usual suspects, Hibs get a good result yesterday but again hibs fans obssessed with Hearts would rather talk aout Hearts, pretty fcuking sad really. There again its just more proof of the chip on the shoulder, small minded small team mentality.

BAck to the game yesterday, and the person that said earlier in the post about Hearts thugishness yesterday, I suggest you actually go to a game, St Middens tactics yesterday stop Hearts at all costs, we were back to our usual mince no cutting edge in front of goal, the ref Gollum while im not blaming him for the result is a complete joke, he made mistakes on both sides, stopping play when there was no need to, awarding free kicks the wrong way, this is a ref that the SFA fast tracked and it shows because i think he missed out half the course and training.

The game was pretty dire to watch, and only gave worrying signs we could be slipping back to old ways, even though we dominated for long spells we done nothing with that pressure or posession.

Anton/Chic/Bazza/Wayne/Nedboy/whatever your real name is.

If you're intent on pretending to be Lithuanian, at least put some effort into it - nobody learns the amount of colloquialisms you use without spending an awful lot of time around native speakers.

The only evidence that is needed for this 'kangaroo court' is the fact that you won't answer any of the perfectly reasonable questions you've been asked several times over the past few days. To probably misquote yourself from your post above, you have not provided one shred of evidence to support your case.

The court rests.

I'm finally pig sick of all of this. NO More Thanks.
I'm p1ssed off with grossly over-paying these mainly foreign puddings to continually fail to meet Hearts standards.
I'm hacked off with Vlad's inane series of empty promises, all designed to drug the fans into a "Jam Tomorrow" train of thought....World class players, champions league etc etc.....aye, very good Vlad...it's really cringeworthy now.
.....and I'm disappointed that fans don't seem to know how to get control of fans organistaions like supporters clubs etc.....full of backside licking main stand afficionados who won't ever rock the boat....fans do need to replace these guys,or the organisations they "represent" in order that a pressure group makes ground level views clearer to the madman from LithuDance inc.

Aye, it's not Romanovs fault, he's being persecuted by a guy on The Scotsman blogs and it's a conspiracy against Hearts. He's probably a journalist since the media hates Hearts. Or from the SFA since they hate Hearts as well...
24

Roscoe P Coltrane,

16/03/2008 13:12:30
What's the solution then Shiltrum?

Serious suggestion - anybody think Vlad would show the respect to others he appears to expect for himself if we set up an online petition, signed by people under their real names? Something along the lines of, "we, the undersigned, as your customers and therefore your major income stream, want you to set out what your short term plans are for the club, with actions and expected dates. Basically just talk straight with us and tell us what's going on."

The problem at the moment is that the 'official' fans organisations are completely toothless and there's too many of them. They also don't appear represent the views of the majority of fans and seem too keen to 'not rock the boat' as Shiltrum put it.

Happy to have one set up if anybody reckons there's a point.

A spokesman for Vlad said today
"It's NOT the BOTTOM SIX....
....IT'S THE SECOND-FROM-TOP TOP SIX"
To which the Jambo Fan Spokesman replied
"Och Well....that's a'right then !!!"

Anton if you never actually went on that website then why did you not say so? you were given plenty of chances to say you did not go to that web site, including that night, but instead call me a liar for telling you that the 4 IP addresses logged were British. One of those IP addresses was my own which of course is British, a secong IP address was that of LF's which again is British, the other 2 addresses which were also Britich were unregistered users (Guests)

I asked you 15 mins after i posted the link for you to go there if you had been on that site, and i said if you have then all the IP addresses are British. Your only reply to that was im lying. How would you know im lying if you didnt visit the site?????? secondly if you did visit the site again i will re-interate all addresses were British, so now your saying in an above post i lied by saying you went on thst site, in other words your saying you didnt.

So you see Anton this is where it gets confussing, you either visited that site or you didnt (Thats not the first time i have asked that) if you did then Ill stand my the claim your IP address is British, if you didnt visit the site which is what your now saying I think i would be due an apology for being called a liar, for saying the 4 logged addresses were british.

I await your usual shifting of the subject to deflect the fact you are caught out again. or the usual snivelling reply from you.

Can someone pls explain the rationale behind Hearts having about 7 Lithuanian's in their squad, given that they are about 50th in the world rankings and the individuals generally are rank themselves? what a waste of time, as they are not going to suddenly become good (never mind world beaters) are they?
Such a shame and it is taking the pi-- out of a support that deserves more.

#44 Lithuanians are rank I agree but they've been involved in giving you the humiliation of a lifetime by gubbing you 4-0 at Hampden with a certain Jankauskas netting the 3rd. We also had a Lithuanian interim coach who lifted the Scottish Cup and got us 2nd in the league, something Hobos can only dream of. Wasn't there once a Lithuanian team of miners called Vetra who put Hobs out the interdiddy cup?? They might be rank but the weeteam don't have a particularly good record against them.
