THOUSANDS of people, including many families with children, poured into a Rome piazza yesterday to protest against a government bill that would give many legal rights to unmarried couples, including homosexual ones.
The proposed legislation, which awaits approval in parliament, has been at the centre of a debate dividing Italians, amid calls by Pope Benedict XVI to defend the traditional family.

Organisers of the demonstration include lay Catholic groups.

Why not live and let live? If you want a 'traditional family,' have it, but let others have the family they want. Why withhold legal rights from others? It's oppression for oppression's sake.

You can have tolerance or religion but you can't have both.

The bible seems a bit ambivalent on homosexuality. There is one bit where some guy tries to prevent a load of yobs from gang raping a male guest in his house, although the bible doesn't make clear which are the good guys.

On the other hand, there is advice on turning the other cheek . . . .

Now sit back and wait for the bile to pour in.

Thousands of caterwauling people lining the streets of Rome stridently agitating to deny rights to others who mean them no harm and merely want equal access to what their hard earned taxes are paying for. I can almost hear the crowd now, "Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer!"

Hi all
Homosexuality is an unsuitable behaviour against real nature of mankind . this type of marriage is rejected by all who see themselves as humans . this judgement is not based on religion . it is based on mankind’s nature . millions of those who oppose homosexuality may believe in no God or religion .

4.....You are an arrogant twit for stating that....I see myself as human as do many non homosexual people...and I and they would be happy to see homosexual marriage....get down off of your pious pulpit and do something useful....

I am pretty sure that you are religious Faramars and that you are basing your comments on your brainwashed thoughts...

Sodomy and 'turning the other cheek'...:)

I wonder how this would have been reported if it were Muslims demonstrating for the retention of Islamic law?

Faramars: There is 'evidence' to suggest that living monogamously with one partner of the opposite sex for the rest of your life is against nature. I am that evidence!

Never got the hang of the monogamy thang!

They should have the same legal rights as any couple, however marriage is to have a family and reproduce the species. Why do they insist on state recognized marriage?

#11 That's gonna be a pretty big island! There are more than 260 million homosexuals in the world (based on the 4% self disclosing homosexuals in the USA 2004 Census multiplied by the population of the World of 6.5 Billion = 260 million).

btw, they can multiply, most choose not to, but many homosexuals have their own kids after being bullied into marrying someone they don't love, subsequently divorcing and gaining custody, moreover many lesbians go for in vitro fertilisation to conceive children of their own.

14

Derek Williams,

Edinburgh 13/05/2007 19:44:02

#11 PS homosexuals have heterosexual parents, and any children they conceive are usually heterosexual in the same proportion as for the rest of the human race (around 96%).

excuse typo in #12 (wrong # and wrong spelling of 'choose')

Sweetmike, #10,

Some heterosexual couples marry but choose not to have children. I'm sure you're not advocating that we require couples to prove that they intend to procreate before they marry! :)
Anyhow, marriage not only grants social benefits (inheritance, visitation rights in hospitals, etc...) It is also an affirmation of mutual love. Why deny it to anyone?

18

SweetMike,

Texas 13/05/2007 21:26:57

17. wicked_grey, I already said they should have the same legal rights as everyone else. Why should they marry? They want to because they figure that makes them the same as everyone else, but they are not. Most guys would object to some guys winkie up their rear end!!! What they get up to with each other is not the same as married folks.

19

Ms Horrible Cankers,

The Cyber Shebeen 13/05/2007 21:36:14

But a lot wouldnt' object to slippin it up the wife's now would they dear?....or do you think 'married folks' dont get up to that kind of thing?.....

20

wicked_grey,

Miami, Fl 13/05/2007 21:58:23

Ms Cankers, #19,

You stole the words right out of my mouth. :)

SweetMike, #18,

Perhaps if they were allowed to marry, it would legitimize them in the eyes of a lot more people SweetMike. Remember that even though our society has a stigma against homosexuality, most societies before the Judeo-Christian model had no problem with it.

#17: "Most guys would object to some guys winkie up their rear end!!! What they get up to with each other is not the same as married folks."

I think you need to do a bit of research before making this claim. You will find that a large number of 'married folks' go in for the 'winkie up the rear end', as you so charmingly describe anal sex.

Once again, yet another straight man obsessed with anal sex...

Ms Horrible Cankers, That particular orifice m'aam is an exit. The only reason they are so close together is to enable a guy to carry his date home like a sixpack. As much as I love my wife I do not find the thought of my winkie in her rectum at all stimulating. I think guys that do this peculiar practice are frustrated gays. I have a newsflash for all you gay blades. NOTHING can replace what a woman has to offer a man.

24

Ms Horrible Cankers,

The Cyber Shebeen 14/05/2007 17:21:08

Yes yes dear already heard that one this week...got news for you sweetie pie..heterosexual men and women practise anal sex.....why do you think there is a whole porn industry that has evolved around it?...frustrated gays...that has to be one of the strangest things I have heard in a long time...so men that masturbate are really just w*nkers eh?

25

Derek Williams,

Edinburgh 14/05/2007 17:32:42

I've heard tell that God must have had a sense of humour when he made the organs of procreation the same as the organs of excretion. Think about it…

26

Derek Williams,

Edinburgh 14/05/2007 17:46:58

Not all homosexuals actually want marriage, and would be content with equal access. There is not complete unanimity in all homosexual communities on this one. Indeed, many lesbians still regard the institution of marriage as a relic of legalized ownership of women by abusive heterosexual men.

By and large, I believe that homosexuals are more than happy to leave the joy of procreating and pain of child rearing to heterosexuals, so long as they themselves don't get penalised because of their sexual orientation. Personally I don't have a problem with either the concept of marriage or of civil unions, so long as homosexuals get equal access to what they pay taxes for and are not mistreated in the community.

27

SweetMike,

Texas. 14/05/2007 19:06:04

Ms Horrible Cankers, why don't they run out and fill a half loaf with dung. They can hump that for a while also. No wonder you have horrible Cankers, I bet your partner thought they were dingle berrys.

28

Derek Williams,

Edinburgh 14/05/2007 19:30:43

SweetMike, I think Ms HC is only trying to make the point that there is nothing homosexuals do that (some) heterosexuals don't also do. I doubt whether she is trying to encourage you to practise anything you're not comfortable with, more to get off your high horse about other people's choice of sexual practice, which as she has correctly made clear, are not the sole prerogative of homosexuals.
