Seeing Things

****

Columbia 886970232282, £9.99
The first solo record from the son of Bob finds him stepping away from the predominantly electric sound of the Wallflowers.

This is a set of songs heavy with acoustic verve, 'Evil Is Alive And Well' being both cautionary and caustic, with all the lyrical bite you would expect. 'Everybody Pays As They Go' could sound as good round the camp fire as in the concert hall, while 'Will It Grow' is even more steeped in the folk tradition, with an almost spiritual harmony rippling through it. The sound of a new era dawning.
