Played on beautiful hard-tuned vintage Paolo Soprani button boxes, by the US/Irish accordion genius, this is one of the best albums of Irish traditional music in ages.

Here, with Brendan Dolan, Liz Carroll, Athena Tergis, Joannie Madden and John Doyle, he shows how melodically inventive he can be in the dance tunes, while being touchingly expressive in a set of O'Carolan planxties and a lullaby. He may be from Brooklyn, but this fairly reeks of rural Ireland.
