POLICE condemned a violent assault on a father and daughter outside their home early yesterday morning.
The 15-year-old girl's jaw was broken and her father suffered head injuries when they were attacked by a gang of youths in Quarrybank, Edinburgh, at around 5am.

The 34-year-old man initially heard noises outside. He went out and challenged the group, thought to be three male and two female youths.

His wife and daughter came outside, and the teen was struck on the side of the face. Her father was hit on the head with what he believes was a bottle, before the gang fled.

The family was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
