Confidential police files have been found in a football club's ground, it emerged yesterday.
A Tayside Police spokesman said a number of "forensic science files" were discovered at Dundee FC's Dens Park.
He said police received a call about the files from the First Division club on Wednesday.
The files – which should have gone to the forensic services laboratory in Dundee – were related to incidents from about four or five years ago. It is also thought they were related to cases from the Central Scotland Police area. The spokesman said: "Police attended and uplifted the files. We are making inquiries about how they came to be there."
Scottish Labour's justice spokesman said: "This is quite extraordinary. It is simply unacceptable for confidential police files, apparently relating to recent cases, to appear in a football ground. (Justice minister] Kenny MacAskill must make urgent investigations into this, and report to the Scottish Parliament on what has gone wrong."
