Senergy snaps up US engineers

SENERGY, the Aberdeen-based energy services group, is set to expand its presence in the United States after swooping on Maine-based SGC Engineering for an undisclosed sum.

SGC provides consultancy services to a range of clients including wind power developers and gas and electrical power transmission companies.

About 70 staff working in the firm's five offices across the US will now transfer to Senergy's alternative energy division.

Senergy has some 475 staff working in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, South-East Asia and Australia and produces revenues of about 80 million a year.

Nial McCollam, managing director of Senergy Alternative Energy, said: "While there are still many economic challenges in the US and Europe, I have no doubt that this acquisition puts us in an excellent position to capitalise on the extensive opportunities afforded within the energy sector in the coming months and years."

The takeover deal has been on the table since January but Senergy has now completed due diligence and completed the purchase.
