Child scoops athlete of year award

EILIDH Child was named as Scottish Athlete of the Year last night at the sport's annual awards in Glasgow after breaking into the 400 metre hurdles elite.
Child, 23, reached the world championship semi-finals this year and picked up a medal as part of Great Britain's relay squad at the European team championships. Beth Potter, the promising middle-distance runner, took the Under-23 award while Sarah Kelly claimed the Under-17 prize. Child's mentor, Stuart Hogg, was named Coach of the Year while Edinburgh AC took the Club award.
