SCOTT HAMILTON & FRIENDS

Across The Tracks

*****

Concord 07230388, £9.99
American sax star Scott Hamilton has long loved the sound of the organ and, a decade after his Organic Duke CD, he revisits the sound famously associated with Ike Quebec for this stunning album recorded "across the tracks" from Manhattan, in the New Jersey studio of Rudy Van Gelder. With a band that includes Duke Robillard (guitar), Gene Ludwig (organ) and Doug James (baritone sax), Hamilton shows that he is still the best in the business for bluesy balladeering and groovy swing.
