Before the Heartbreakers, Tom Petty, Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell were in many Florida bands, latterly this one.

Returning to make the album they never managed in the Seventies is happily no vanity project. Petty's voice has never sounded better than in this context with honky tonkin' round tunes like 'Queen Of The Go Go Girls' sounding like he knows nothing else, and 'Bootleg Flyer' ringing out like the best thing he has done since 'American Girl'.
