Obama is a very articulate man, really, he is the kind of image that would help the US internationally. But his timing is off as most Americans are very wary of the Muslims around us. Citizens here, over all, have never been friends of the Middle East and the Muslims here do not integrate well as a group. Obama just can't win because of his name and religion.

I saw an interview on TV the other day when a BBc journalist asked Obama some serious questions which he clearly didn't like. One was about whether he thought there was still a race issue or divide in the US. He told her it was a silly question and touched her on the shoulder. The woman persevered and he continued along the same vein. Four times he patronisingly touched her shoulder but still didn't answer her. I would have have been tempted to put my hand on HIS shoulder in the same manner every time I repeated the question, just to show him that I wasn't going to be intimidated by him, whether he replied to my question or not!

Read this last night and was interested in the comments that would be made. Glad to say they are pretty same so far.

Obama has come across too tame and to be president. He is saying a lot of nice things but if he gets the nomination he will have to toe the party (democrt) line. He also is too inexperienced. This is his first time as a senator and never held another national office or been governor, or mayor of a large city. Also he doesn't have the money or the political machine to overcome queen hillary.

Yes this country has a sorry record with the African-Americans and the Native-Americans but that has been largly been corrected, lots more than what the media and the democratic party would let you believe. The only part his race would play to the average citizen is that if elected he would be the first. The same with hillary, she would be the first female elected and the first dictator for this country.

To the average citizen race and religion plays to the very small and bigot citizens and should not be a factor at all.

My problem is that since the census counts all persons living in this country and that figure decides how many represenatives and federal money each states get, how many represenatives and money has some states lost because population lose and how many has some states gained because of increase of population, counting illegal immigrants? Let the candidates tell us what they intend to do about that.

President Johnason by execuative order put the social security surplus in the general fund and look at the mess. What are the candidates going to do about that besides raisethe social security tax rate and age of retirement.

Remember. President Kennedy wasn't supposed to be electable because of 1. his father's position on the nazi Germany and 2. his religion......he was elected.

We could definitely see an hispanic presidential candidate coming out of the southwest. We might be able to import some Canadians to combat that, but all the Canadians I know think Americans are barbarians anyway - we like our guns too much and don't believe in socialized medicine.

You need to remember that most of the polls and pollsters are from the East of the Mississippi. They know from beans what the rest of us are going to do. It would be a mistake to rule anyone out or in at this point. Sweet Sue, people East of the Mississippi say that California is where the pollisters are. Oh, well some people vote for who the polls say are in the lead, some vote according to the post election polls say are in the lead. Very few actually try to look beyond the surface and find out what the cadidate and the party actually stand for. However they aren't really telling you either.

A lot of people say if the democrats get in there will be more big government and socialism and if the republicians get in we will move towards one world government. My opinon is that both is right, look at what is going on. The democrats are to lead us to socilaism and the republicans will take care of leading us to saluting the UN. Big corporations are calling the shots make no mistake about it. Have alway did and always will. It is the bottom line that counts.

Here in D.C., politics is the 3rd biggest game in town (After baseball and football). Even we bluecollars have long discussions around it. Fact is, everyone says "It's All Washingtons' Fault", but where do these Washington politicians come from? Yep, everywhere else. I pretty much know who I'm voting for, depending on potential "Dean Screem" mistakes, and no, I'm not telling..;-)

It sounds like you need to move to a neighboring State. The District of Columbia is NOT a State nor should it ever become a State. It was set up as a District for Congress. If people so choose to move there, that is their right and their right not to have a congressman. If they really want a congressman they can live in any of the other 50 States. You sound like someone who moves next door to an Airport then wants the Airport to close down due to the noise from jets.

The only people who want DC to become a State are Democrats because the permanent residents of the District are mostly criminals and people who are on welfare who normally vote for Democrats. in 1984 Jesse Jackson was a "serious" democrat contender for the whitehouse he was on Meet the Press... (american news show where politicains are frequent guests)... the panel kept asking him questions about various political topics of the day (such as the middle east, and the Beruit bombings).... Jesse's response... 'aparthied in south africa sucks'... they kept pounding away at him... and Jesse kept going back to his wrote topic response... finally after 4 or 5 rounds they broke for a commercial and Jesse was gone (effectively his campaign was over at that point)...
