Well, it is private property - so it should be up to Channel 4 if they allow smoking or not.
It's not as if I will be watching any of that crap anyway...
I'm not sure if Mr Hutchens is being a tad sarcastic in his letter, but if he wants BB to reflect the reality of living in Britain then the contestants will be standing on the pavement smoking, shouting and carpeting the pavement with fag ends.
Can't really see this making them 'visibly healthier'.
I suspect that the health benefits from the ban are marginal, although no doubt figures are available demonstrating otherwise.
The reality of life is that around a quarter of the population smoke. The reality of the ban is that nowhere where ETS exists should be a workplace or the subject of a documentary - documentaries shouldl never again be accurate documents of reality.News reporters and their support staff may be encouraged into war zones and truly dangerous places but should never enter any smoke-friendly environment.Historical dramas are forced to display inaccuracies when depicting any situation where smoking was a common activity. If an actor can be persuaded to depict Churchill studio staff should not allow him into their workplace.Soaps can display murder, sexual perversion and all sorts of criminal behaviour as long as the reality of the 25% of the population that smoke are never seen actively smoking.Truth is being manipulated by politics yet truth is an essential of education and freedom.Should we respect those who show no respect for the culture of their people. This culture may not suit politicians but they are our representatives not our rulers.Maybe its time to vote for minority candidates who 'are of the people' not the product of political elitism.
Thanks Eddie I hadn't realised they had been given £1.7 (million) of our money to browbeat us.
Rather like Scottish Renewables boss getting money to lobby (& write letters to the Scotsman) for more money for windmills.
I am also a non-smoker who shares the view that the smoking ban is an "illiberal attack on individual freedom".
Our political class is a very incestuous bunch who seem to be cross subsidising each other at every opportunity.
If this money had gone to a political party (either yours or ours) to lobby against spending more taxpayer money there would, correctly, be an outcry.
