Levein fury as ref 'bottles it'

Published Date: 11 May 2008
IN THE course of a devastating attack on referee Mike McCurry yesterday, Dundee United manager Craig Levein repeatedly stated that it was "impossible" for his team to win at Ibrox following a controversy-drenched 3-1 defeat that puts them out of contention for third place in the Premier League and a place in next season's UEFA Cup.
Apoplectic with McCurry for denying his side a penalty and ruling out a seemingly legitimate goal, Levein accused the official of being unwilling to make any major decisions that would be unfavourable to Rangers in their title quest. Television evidence supported Levein's view that, with Rangers leading 2-0, Noel Hunt should have been awarded a 54th-minute penalty after being eased off the ball by David Weir as he made a run across the penalty box. Replays also demonstrated that the offside flag raised by assistant Stuart Macaulay after a deflected strike from Danny Swanson found the net in the 76th minute should have stayed down with the shot breaking off Weir as David Robertson sprinted across his path.

These calls, and his insistence Kirk Broadfoot punched Noel Hunt and Daniel Cousin headbutted Lee Wilkie, provided the gunpowder for an incendiary post-match outburst. Levein, who went head to head with McCurry at the edge of his technical area following the disallowed goal, said: "I said to him we'd have been as well not turning up, what's the point?"

Levein said. "We'd have been as well going at that point, really. Mike could have phoned me this morning and said 'Rangers are going to get three points today, just tell your lads to stay in the house.' It is impossible to win here in important games, impossible to win. The referee has bottled it. He bottled it because he knew that if he's given the penalty he would have to send Davie Weir off. In this game who gives a toss about Dundee United, eh? Who cares?

"What will happen now is I'll get my wrists slapped for having a go at the referee. But that guy knew it was a penalty kick but knew the game was so important to Rangers that he couldn't give it because he would have had to send Davie Weir off. His assistant probably had a better view of it but he's not going to put his head above the parapet. It's Rangers… it is Ibrox… you can't win. An important game going for a title decider? You can't have Dundee United winning that game."

Levein knows the consequence of his outburst. "I'll be sitting in front of six or eight guys, in front of some disciplinary committee in a few weeks time getting a fine, that's what will happen now," he said. "I'll tell you something, after the CIS Cup final (in March] I did my absolute best not to have a go at the referee (Kenny Clark] for denying us a blatant penalty. Maybe some people have mistaken kindness for weakness on my part. There is no doubt if you add what happened today I have every right to be furious. Every right."

Even when asked if he could take any positives from the game, his focus did not shift. "Mike McCurry's not going to referee another one of our games this season," he snapped back. "We played well, made chances, passed the ball. They did everything they could to try and win today, be entertaining, try and show that coming here they are not scared, not going to bottle it, and they did that. But what's the point?"

He snapped again when asked if he was worried about keeping his players calm. "Noel Hunt got punched in the face at the goal, a deliberate punch by Kirk Broadfoot, and Cousin head-butts Lee Wilkie. It is not my players that need to worry about discipline, the referee should control the Rangers players.

"A season long is how you end up in third place or fourth place or fifth place, but these decisions add up. It might be that an extra £125,000 for a league place is added to my budget, in fact I know it would be. It might mean an extra place for me next season. It might mean, when I get an injury I could put a good player on rather than a kid. Do people not think about that? It is all about the pressure on Rangers, that's what it's all about?"

Prodded to do so, Hunt was willing to add his voice to the debate. "It just seems to be Rangers and Celtic's league," said the United striker. But it is not just about them, we don't care abut them. We were pushing for Europe."

Hunt maintained "you can't get much more of a stonewall penalty" than when Weir, in his opinion, took him out of it. "You can't beat 12 men, to be honest," he said, later adding: "Whatever the excuse they have got away with it."

To have a goal "chopped off like that, it's like cheating" Hunt said of United's disallowed strike. And Mark de Vries's caution-earning ironic checking with assistant and referee before the header he netted to make it 2-1 in 76 minutes, Hunt felt was entirely understandable. "He didn't celebrate because he thought it would be taken off him, after the first one was taken off for nothing. He was being a bit sarcastic and he was right."

Former United player Christian Dailly countered that since arriving at Ibrox in January he has formed the impression that Rangers are more often on the wrong end of decisions. "There have been lots of decisions not given that should have been given in our favour," he said. "It looks like a couple went our way today, but that is not the norm."

mm..how long will we be allowed to comment on the most bias referee in the spl giving another outrageous performance at ibrox....
funny in europe an attempted headbutt gets you a red card...but in mccurryland it gets you a yellow..but hey it also gets the guy you try and headbutt a yellow card as well...(a bit like fergusons european card count v his domestic punishments)
the medias moral outrage at levins comments just nail their colours to the mast..anyhoo today did tarnish the credibility of the spl...but hey celtic did get a soft corner last week !!!!

Great 7 points from 3 games in the last 6 days against 3 of the SPL's top clubs, and the heat is back on Celtic as a very capable Hibernian roll into town, needing something to keep their UEFA hopes alive.

If Celtic get officials favouring them with contentious decisions as they have in their last few SPL matches, then Hibs have no chance unfortunately.

But I live in hope.

Cousin was foolish in Italy, deserved his red, however the Fiorentina player should have been booked as he provoked Cousin...didnt have a good view of the incident today but if its similiar then its hardly surprising that Wilkie got booked.

your brass neck is admirable bemused ..but today the spl took another big blow..we all know mccurry chose not to give the penalty..and it is hard to disagree wiyj levien..but as he said all that matters to the media is that rangers are doing well.so you can be pompus and patronissing..but mccurry was a disgrace today...and sadly this thread wont last long..the other thread has already been closed after 1 post..mines..which was the same as the first post here..censorship..afraid so..x

Linesmen do occassionally put their heads above the parapet , and in the most extraordinary circumstances.

Linesman Andy Davis knows all about that. He saw the foul that never was, and from an impossible angle, but he was 'certain' that it was a penalty to Rangers, in the last minute , which allowed Rangers to win the match, and subsequently the league (on goal difference).

There was no doubt about this one though, and all honest people know that McURRY didn't make any mistake...he knew it was a penalty, he knew that Weir would have to walk, he knew that Rangers were in BIG trouble.

He also knew that the ball came of Weir before it went into the net...he was in a FAR SUPERIOR to see what happened than the linesman was. McURRY took advantage of the linesman's error to save Rangers AGAIN !
He will hide behind the linesman's flag, but he knows the truth of it.

I didn't see the alleged assault by Broadfoot, but could not fail to spot Cousin headbutting Wilkie.
Again , McURRY showed his true colours , and 'fine' they are too.

#2 - Comparing a corner, which may well have been a corner as TV is not wholly conclusive (watch Porter - he did not even complain at the time!), or an offside which takes three replays and lines drawn across the pitch before the commentator realise McDonald was approximately 6 inches offside, and with guidelines which say if in doubt favour the attacking team with what was witnessed yesterday does you no favours. There is no comparison with these extremely marginal calls compared with the series of blatantly wrong decisions made by McCurry today.

Levein has taken the lid of the Pandora's box of support by certain officials for one team in particular. It remains to be seen whether the SFA's Chief Executive has the bottle to take action against his own team.

...about time somebody had the cojones to stand up and say what everybody in Scotland has been saying for an eternity. The SPL is run for the benefit of celtic and rangers. how dare Dundee United turn up and actually try and play.(granted they were two down at the time). these decisions make a mockery of an already often chastised SPL set up.

Well said Craig Levein.

I now hardly care about this league, I hardly care about scottish football and I hardly care about McCurry and the rest of the cheats who have delivered trophy after trophy to Ibrox year in year out.

However what I do care about is justice. I care about people who undeservedly receive injustices like today. I'd rather remove what happened today from Celtic and there current pursuit of the title. I'd rather focus on the feelings of Craig Levien, Eddie Thompson and every Dundee United player and fan.

Tonight these people must feel terrible.

They must feel as though they are living in a democracy but are not allowed to vote.

They must feel like they are innocent men sentenced to death.

They must feel like they have rights but can't exercise them.

They must feel like my Irish forefathers felt like when they arrived in Scotland escaping a potato famine starving and looking for employment only to see signs above shipyards saying "No Irish Catholics Need Apply".

The saying life is not fair is so true. Today it should change to - Life is fairer than Scottish Football.

It has to stop. If this occured in Italy or Spain their would be a criminal trial and the culprits would be heading for jail. That may sound like an exaggeration but corruption in sport is a serious crime in other parts of the world - mainly because of the gambling involved.

I am seriously going to be writing to the Government and the House of Lords urging them to hold an official inquiry into the Scottish game. Not for the sake of Celtic or the Celtic fans but for every decent person involved in Scottish football and to save the Scottish game.

Lighten up cosmos.

Recent decisions have favoured Celtic, and today will probably bring more of the same. In the meantime, Rangers got a wee break yesterday. I welcome it. Take it from a fan of a team who knows, you need a wee bit of help when you're going for a domestic treble and a major European trophy all at the same time.

Now, book your TV seat for Wednesday night, disconnect the phone, and get behind Scotland's representatives in the final of the UEFA Cup, as RFC attempt to become the first Scottish club to win it.

Oh, and don't forget to find a good vantage point for the bus parade through Glasgow that follow follows.

Life is good.

It's just football to you and me. To Craig Levien and his players it's their livelihood.

Todays decisions have cost them thousands if not millions of pounds.

It's not OTT. It's been going on too long and has to STOP!

You guys are sensible enough to see that cheats shouldn't prosper, you are intelligent enough to see that sport is about fair play and rules.

I don't want to turn this into a tit for tat OF debate, I want nothing more than justice for Scottish football. Aberdeen also were robbed today by a bad decision, it's no use just to talk about OF decisions and ref's incompetence - this is worse than that. There is corruption going on and it will be investigated.

Was the offside goal that stood against Falkirk just a "lucky break"?

Was the free-kick against St Mirren just a "lucky break"?

Was Aberdeen's disallowed last gasp equaliser a "lucky break"

Was the offside goal against Rangers just a "lucky break"?

Was the penalty for an infringement outside the box in the same game just a "lucky break"?

Seems like a lot of refereeing "lucky breaks" if you ask me. In fact, that list alone has won Celtic 9 points by my calculations, without which you'd have been down and out a long time ago.

Poor, poor Celtic.

"And yes that's the very same McCurry who overtly favoured RFC at Ibrox v Celtic in October" (#36)

That's odd since he disallowed a good Rangers goal and turned down a stonewall Gers penalty claim.

Add to that not sending off Boruc for trying to strangle Weir and not sending off McDonald for assaulting McGregor and there's a REAL four incredible decisions that went in Celtic's favour.

Or let's take the last Old Firm game. A McDonald goal that was offside, Caldwell handled the ball three times (at least one inside the Celtic box) without being penalised, a penalty for Celtic where McDonald actually fouled Broadfoot (watch the BBC online highlights), an appalling assault by Hesselink on Faye that didn't bring a red card. Four? Pah! :0)

He's not alone tho, there are several so called referee's who help out RFC week in week out; and some others who bottle it at Celtic park. Meanwhile, other clubs suffer when these incompetent officials choose to flex their muscles at smaller grounds. Hibs have had very bad recent experiences from meessrs McCurry, Dougal, Richmond and the vile Alan Freeland. All of these characters are in the employ of David Murray as far as I'm concerned. It stinks!

#62 - McGregor delberatley stood on McDonald's feet. Twice. When he shoved him off Weir came up an aggressively shoved McDonald in the chest. McDonald was booked, perhaps harshly, but no action was taken against the Rangers players who both committed offences at least worthy of a yellow card.

Falkirk - yes. 1 decision in a match. A close one at that but the kind of mistake that is made in every game.
St Mirren - It was a foul. There was contact, the defender missed the ball and he went down. Soft yes but no softer than the foul that led to your first goal today
Aberdeen - have you airbrushed Sammy's goal from history. Let me refresh your memory. 87 mins and Celtic and Sammy gets his 2nd and Celtic go 2-0 up. But wait a minute - Brines saw something that noone else saw and chalked it off. The game finished 1-0 instead of 2-1
Rangers game - 6 inches off side. You went 2-1 up so it didnt affect you too much. As for the penalty would you sober up - you should be grateful it wasnt a red card as well
You didnt mention the Motherwall game so I will. celtic scored from a dodgy corner. Motherwell missed from theirs. Thats hardly celtic fault now is it.

I can handle honest mistakes but I'm afraid what we saw today can not be swept under the carpet as a mistake. All the key decisions went against United due to McCurry's cheating. The man should never be allowed on a pitch again.

I still feel the league will go down to the final day. Even if Celtic were to slip up tomorrow, I could see Rangers then dropping points against Motherwell, or even St mirren.

As for what will happen on the final day- I haven't got the scoobiest!

Also I see you too are lapsing into the age old cliche "I feel your pain" every time someone says something you dislike. Have you anything new to say instead of the same old guff used by every second moron on here?

BE you need to take a long hard look at yourself. You openly endorse cheating and corruption FFS. What kind of kids are you going to be bringing up if you can't distinguish right from wrong.

It's really seriously sad.

"Was Aberdeen's disallowed last gasp equaliser a "lucky break"?"

what you seem to be forgetting is that brines blew the whistle and everybody, including all aberdeen's players except diamond, stopped dead. that is why diamond was able to put the ball in the net.

also, earlier that day celtic had a perfectly good goal of their own (samaras) disallowed by brines.

comparing that match to the two david weir incidents today is just daft.

I know from the e-tims website that Celtic fans singled out McURRY in lorry-loads of correspondence to UEFA over the past several months.

My understanding is that the response from UEFA up until this point has been cool.

Now Celtic fans can bring this latest farce to their attention, and the remarks of another football manager who has not the slightest connection with Celtic.

Mabey now UEFA might start to take an interest in McURRY , and how he has managed to hang on to his license, and how he came to be officiating in a match that Rangers went to extraordinary lengths to have postponed.

I now hardly care about this league, I hardly care about scottish football and I hardly care about McCurry and the rest of the cheats who have delivered trophy after trophy to Ibrox year in year out.

However what I do care about is justice. I care about people who undeservedly receive injustices like yesterday. Think of the feelings of Craig Levien, Eddie Thompson and every Dundee United player and fan.

Tonight these people must feel terrible, the bottom has just fell out of their world.

Mike McCurry had a shocker and all the Bluenoses know it. We are not talking about marginal offsides and corner kicks, those we can debate about because all teams get some and lose some. We are not even talking about free kicks. The crucial decisions that the referee got wrong were either through sheer incompetence or some other factor. If it is incompetence then fair enough, he shouldn't be reffing at this level. If it isn't incompetence then we have to look at his record and "abilities" and decide why is he making these decisions? The Whistleblower site will be interesting during the week but I won't hold my breath.

BBC Radio Scotland didn`t half get ripped into what they seen as blatantly biased decisions,5 of,going in Rangers favour.

I mean, its not only Craig Levein who have had enough and are willing to stand up and be counted.

1)Kirk Broad foot punched Hunt in the gub and burst his lip and tongue...did not get red carded.
2)Kooooh-Saaaahn once again stuck the nut on an opponent, this time Lee Wilkie....did not get red carded.
3)Carthorse Weir halfs the DU forward in two inside the box....no penalty awarded.
4)Big Weirisome as last man should automatically have been shown the red card....it did not happen.
5)The hapless Weirisome rifles a cracker past his own keeper....wait for this....this one takes the biscuit....the Dundee United goal is chalked off for...OFFSIDE.

Rangers were encouraged and permitted to destroy the integrity of The Scottish Premier League today.

Scottish Football deserves better than this disgrace.

For your perusal. Here are some " honest mistakes" by all those hordes of Masonic refs Celtc's last four games.

1 ) Fir Park- Celtc wrongly "awarded" a corner which directly leads to the match winning goal. In the same game, Celtc's Robson throws a Motherwell player to the ground, ref Conroy yet again sees nothing, then play continues with not even a yellow card produced.

2 ) Celtc Park - Aberdeen cheated by ref Ian Brines by disallowing a late legitimate goal by Zander Diamond.

3 ) Celtc Park- Celtc's Robson forearm smashes Rangers Christian Dailly in the face in the very first minute of the first Old Firm double-header...Dailly is thereby warned by ref Kenny Clark for "complaining."

The violence continues when Celtc's Hartley breaks Ranger Lee McCulloch's leg in a shocking over the top challenge...no straight -red card for Hartley for exactly the same sort of tackle which seen Motherwell defender Bob Malcolm player immediately shown the same the recent week on the same pitch versus Celtc.

Vinegar of Castlemilk attempts similar on Rangers Nacho Novo later in the same game. Ref Clark " hammers" the Dutchman with a yellow card.

4 ) Celtc's Scott McDonald scores the opening crucial goal in the second Old Firm match with a blatant offside goal. He later stamps on and fouls Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot clearly outside the penalty area yet falls inside the box to "claim" a penalty kick, dutifullu awarded by ref Craig Thomson.

Celtc's Robson, who should have been missing from this second game due to the straight red -card he should have received from Kenny Clark in the first for his forearm smash, then converts the winning goal from the converted penalty kick.

I haven't even give special mention to the disgrace of Celtc's McManus handling the ball into the net at Fir Park recently either, or the prior games at Falkirk or Love Street with Nakamura's embarrassing late minute dive for the free kick which won the points.

Where do I si

McCurry unquestionably favoured Rangers over penalty today but object of dhim anger for disallowed goal should have been linesman. Levein has a point to an extent in that Utd have been unlucky against Rangers (i didn't think CIS penalty incident was incorrect though) but Dhims defy belief as usual as they've had numerous favourable decisions of late and for once given the Nyon postie a break from their incessant stream of letters to UEFA - that well known bastion of "integrity & fairness". Lets not forget Basket-Balls-Semi.

The Very Reverend The Mike Mccurrupt was in charge there too.

He was five yards from the incident when Basket-Ball controlled the ball with his upper right arm before patting the ball into position with his right hand and then volleying into the net.

The Very Reverend got away with that one too,and without explanation.

You will not be permitted to say that you believe it to be bad refereeing.

Murray says "the world is laughing at us"

News for you Davie boy, the world has been laughing/sniggering at Rangers FC for decades going back to the decades when your club wouldn't employ catholics - during a time when the RC Church was the world's largest most powerful organisation - yet your narrow minded insular wee club still refused to contemplate signing any of the 600 million people.

But it doesn't stop there Davie, they have laughed/sniggered Since 1873 when Rangers (a rowing club) attempted to play football - think Scott Nesbit, Bob Malcolm, Sebo and I need say no more.

So the world has been laughing at the RFC board and the wannabe players but the biggest jokers of the lot are the ramshackle bigoted rabble that you Davie call supporters.

These are people who sing "we are the people" yet they have not one clue just what people they are. Let me explain Davie, they are born in Scotland but they wear England strips and sing songs about Ireland and worship a murderous tyrannical dutchman and an old wee fat german woman. Confused? It gets better.

They also have an affiliation for the BNP, Nazism and extreme terrorists in the North of Ireland who are harming and have harmed physically, mentally and emotionally British subjects - but hey get this they call themselves British. Confused? It gets even better Davie - read on.

They then claim to be protestants - a Christian religion. But when did Christ ever support murders, tyrants and worship anything other than God.

Yes Davie, confused as they are, they are the people unfortunately they are your club's people and unfortunately they too are a laughing/sniggering stock. Think Barcelona 1972. Yeah I need say no more.

Rangers FC - the laughing stock of the world. Well said Sir David Murray.

Ps..The world is now investigating why Referees blatently cheat to hand Rangers trophies. No laughing matter that is it?

Ok dodgy decision, we got the points, then early doors a flood of dhims complaining.
For the record Cousin was sent off for a 2nd yellow not a staright red so there is the parity with europe.
Secondly HOW THE F@@K can you say anything?
I give you Robson on Daily. If a foul was given then so to should a staright red, no attempt on the ball just straight in with the elbow, but we know how that one panned out!
GIRFUY!
You have had the lions share of decisions from refs, sfa, spl since the whole Dallas incident, about time someone took you to task and still live in the faint hope that UEFA will want more than a 'have a word' sanction for a player who has proven time and again to be an absoloute W**K! Lets face it the whole T-shirt thing was obviously preplanned, as such an intent to breach the peace was planned and hey it's also sectarian so again GIRFUY, you want a level playing field its going that way, the SPL/SFA have sh@t themselves following the disgraceful way they pandered to you dhims, they fear a backlash, they shouldnt bother as their windows (and kids) are safe!

For too long the OF have gotten every decision going these idiots don't even live in the real world they cannot see past Celtic and Rangers.

I think it's hilarious that they moan about decisions against there teams they should spend a few weeks following another team to se some real injustice.

Between them they have the worst offenders for diving, simulation, aggression and intimidation of referees yet these players never get picked up for it either in the media or by the officials, OF fans need to get a grip.

Lets look at the incidents.
The penalty would have been soft as the two players came togather. It is never a sending off as Noel Hunt mis-controlled the ball and knocked it out to the right side of the penalty box therefore it was not a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
Cousin headbutt. He's an idiot but the referee wasn't looking at it as it was off the ball so even booking both players was a bit of a joke.
Broadfoot punch- I was at the game and have no idea what this controversy was about.
Offside goal- This is a fair complaint but a difficult call for the linesman.

All of these incidents occurred before De Vries goal and United didn't have another chance in match so get over it. Persistent fouling by several United players and several dangerous tackles could also have resulted in red cards.

Living in Australia, it is probably unfair of me to comment on the 350 "posts" on this subject, but something seems wrong and needs addressing. Here in Australia, in Rugby League, all contentious decisions are referred to a referee sitting in a box somewhere where he has full camera access from all angles, as to what happened. He makes the final decision, not the referee on the playing field. This in my opinion works very well for Rugby League players , clubs and the fans. I am sure this suggestion has been put forward and discussed before - may I make a suggestion to the SFA, if you have not seen it before, why not at least give it a try for a season, and see what the clubs, fans think of it at the end of the trial season.
Not only would you be dealing with those contentious refereeing decisions, but you would also be able to have proof of those faking diving decisions.

#354 - I don 't want to get into a pseudo intellectual discussion about the relative merits of one anothers songs and whose fans are worse etc as i prefer to leave that to the usual terminally thick trolls on here - of whom there are many. For what its worth my short psynopsis on it is as long as its left to 90 mins at the game then i don't see the major fuss in it - sticks and stones etc. I personally don't like the BJK ditty but as i have said in the past its only due to continued reaction it engenders (the analogy of poking a wasps nest is quite apt) and if the shoe was on the other foot it'd be no different. Rangers have a sizeable proportion of supporters (i think Murray called them the F T P brigade) who will never change but likewise Celtic aren't without their own plankton likewise. Rivalry being as it is you always find faults in the others actions and however much people claim impartiallity its only human nature that this is the case - apologies if i bore you to sleep

Falkirk away is just one. They were denied 3 stonewall penalties, McManus breaks the leg of a Falkirk player who was crudely scythed down while moving in toward goal, in a reckless challenge - and doesn't even see yellow... and oh yeah...

McDonald's winner was clearly offside! which the linesman blatantly ignored. But of course, as Bitter Maguire always opines... "these decisions level themselves out over the season"... but only when they go Celtic's way, otherwise the league's tainted y the stench of cheating! *rollseyes*

I only saw the game on the web and the penalty decision was a bad one. However, as a former referee I believe that the offside rule states that a player is offside WHEN the ball is played forward and there are less than 2 players between the player and the goal line unless they are not interfering with play. It does not matter that the ball came off Weir if there was a DU player in an offside postition and interfering with play. The officials obviously thought so.

As for Rangers attempt at winning the Uefa Cup’ won’t happen in my life time because the second they are asked to play football instead of the 11 players behind the ball routine they have adopted recently, they will lose.

Let there be no doubt about it.

McCurry was Hand-picked as a 'result ref' for Rangers.
And boy did he deliver in spades.

Just as he was in the previous Rangers v Dundee United fixture, where he overruled a linesman 'rewarded' Rangers an offside goal, and had no problem awarding Rangers a soft penalty albeit it was saved by Euan McLean.

Just as I was warned on this very forum before the league Cup final that Kenny Clark was 'hand picked' to deliver Rangers a trophy after a relatively barren period.

Yesterdays decisions leave every Dundee United supporter sick to the pit of their stomachs.

We are 100% behind Levein.
He threatened McCurry (check out his Wiki entry which a United fan added yesterday) with removing the players from the park. Well I can tell you Craig, we would have bee 100% behind you if you did.

We would urge you to NOT to pay any fine and NOT to observe any ban. Lets take the SFA all the way to the courts on this one.

This time things have gone too far and a stand must be taken. Murray said that Scottish football was a laughing stock.
How right he is!

On a personal note I was also disgusted by the 'banter' of Rangers fans who's 'famine' taunts each time Noel Hunt touched the ball yesterday went beyond the pale. How the ROI 'B' international from Waterford can be singled out because of his nationality is blatant racism.

Same old Rangers it would seem.

How about it SFA, a fine - or will United have to take it to EUFA / FIFA to expose this one?

Oh and Christian Dailly, you father Dan, would be ashamed of you playing for that mob. He brought you up as a United man, and you also stated you would never play for another Scottish team.

Well, in a way, I suppose Rangers can be seen in that light.

Come on Zenit!

Rangers never "won" that Cup.
The whole of Scotland knows that corruption won the day a few short weeks ago,and corruption won the day again yesterday.

The common denominator in both these scandals is Rangers and their "football" club.

Levein is furious because he has failed to finish high enough for European football.
Novo scored two excellent goals, and that is why Dundee United lost.
I dont remember Levein going berserk when the referee failed to give Rangers a penalty in the CIS cup final, and it WAS a penalty. He should have been out there demonstrating on behalf of the game itself, but he wasnt.
And here is another thing; give Levein the chance to manage Rangers next season and he grabs it with both hands. When Dundee United visit for their first game and he gets a penalty he should'nt have got, he says "Its football, sometimes you get the decisions sometimes you dont" OR he uses the famous line " I didnt see it, I will need to look at it on video"
It is time for people in football to grow up and stop moaning.
Rangers won because they were better on the day, that is the bottom line.
What will the hobo's excuse be today when Celtic hump them? I wait in anticipation for the lesser Hibees to pretend that football owes them something. Dundee United should be ashamed of their gaffer, he failed over 37 games to get them European football, not one game at Ibrox.

What happened at the alter of Rangers F.C. yesterday will reverberate far far beyond the Ibrox cesspit.

This will be taken up by Scotlands Parliament in Edinburgh.
Scotlands Football is too big an influence in Scottish Society for what happened yesterday only to be allowed to stay within the confines of the colluding SFA/SPL/SFL.

THAT MUST NOT BE PERMITTED TO HAPPEN.

Corruption in Scotlands Football, as displayed yesterday at Ibrox and exclusively to the benefit of Rangers and their "football" club must be exposed for what it is and discussed in the higher echelons of Scotlands power-brokers.

The staus quo will not do.

This is all a little tiresome. There is no mason/catholic conspiracy in scottish football much as the two sectarian sisters and their knuckle dragging bigot supporters would like to believe it. There is however a load of money swilling around both clubs and if our OF supporters actually stepped into the shoes of those supporters whose clubs continually try to batter at the door of the top two places they would perhaps get a better perspecive on things. The only conspiracy is to keep money coming to money. Been a while since we've had a penalty at Greyskull or Darkheid.

Will Mike (ex-Ibrox season ticket holder) McCurry be expected to explain his decisions in the same way Mr Brines had to do?

You can just imagine McCurry explaning these decisions away....

1. What about the penalty decision Mr. McCurry...ermmm..I was tying my laces at the time...

2. Did you ask yer assistant after the game what he saw?....he was tying his laces...

3. What about the goal disallowed....Ermmm...I was tying my laces...

4. What about your assistant on the goal...when I went and spoke to him...he said he was tying his laces...

5. Kirk broadfoot deliberatly and violently elbowing a Utd player...Ermmm....never seen anything...I was too busy tying my laces...

6. Christian Daily taking a dive.....Ermmmm I saw that...I did see that...but to be honest...as a minister how can I book a player with the name Christian?

7. Daniel (forehead) Koooooosan's head butt.....Ermmmm...I was talking to Barry and confirming that I was still on for a lift home on the team bus....

So there we have all straight forward.

What happened yesterday in the name of Rangers F.C. and to the exclusive benefit of that club is worse than a drugs cheat in the Olympics.

Let me explain.

At the end of the 100 meters you have the judge ,right.
He has the power and access to the replays of the race, right.

Every time Dundee United were about to sprint into the lead, the judge stopped the race, rearranged the participants so that Rangers remained in front, then allowed the race to continue.

The point being, the corruption starts at the top then filters its way done to those who are chosen to receive the benefits of their cheating hand.

#406. Vladimir Romanov is correct. That is why the west coast media have gone out of their way to humilate him with monkey jibes etc. It took an outsider to have the guts to stand up and tell the truth in much the same way as Craig Levein is doing now. I hope Craig stands up to any punishment he is given now for being outspoken by going to law in the same way as he did when referee Dougie Macdonald blatantly made bad decisions in a Kilmarnock game. Hearts didn't win about thirteen subsequent consecutive games refereed by Macdonald after that each with controversial decisions. Hence VR's comments. It's a pity the SPL changed their minds and did not have Rangers and Celtic in a new SPL. Football would be much fairer and a better spectacle. If Rangers do win the league it will be a hollow victory. Not worth a fig in fact.

Actually if you compare the 'foul' that McURRY awarded which lead to Rangers' first goal WITH the foul Weir committed for the 'penalty' which McURRY turned down, you realise that you are dealing with a bigot.

But Celtic fans have been insisting for months that Basket-Ball-Bazza McURRY is simply a bigot who should have had his license withdrawn long, long ago.

If Rangers win the league by two points this year, it will be another immoral victory to add to their extensive collection.

In the post match press conference, one of the laptopmeejaloyalists attempted to draw Levein into a general rant against the 'old firm', but Levein was quick to nail that one.

He said he was talking about Rangers, no other club.

If Levein is fined for his comments it will be as scandalous as those two decisions. As a Rangers fan I believe if McCurry had made them at the other end he would still be locked in Ibrox for his own safety. If the Arabs produce a similar second-half performance on Thursday week it's Celtic who will be wasting their time turning up. There's no way they'll get three points at Tannadice.

Rearrangers Football Club are trying to get the Zenit game moved back a day.

Sir Wantaway says its like a compulsive obsessive disorder that Ragz have gotten themselves into and he is finding it difficult to change now so late in the season.

Murray has apologised to all fans of Rearrangers F.C but insists that they will not lose out financially with their now out of date tickets.

As has been happening all season he will buy up all Ragz away game tickets in Europe and distribute them free.

But only those Rearragers fans he considers worthy will be considered.

Very nice of him.
Isn`t it.

Brother Walfrid,

Rangers fans know that McURRY got them out of jail yesterday, on more than one occassion, and not for the first time this season.

But those rats at the sfa will round on Levein for speaking out the truth.

I think there should be a campaign of support for Levein. A petition should be drawn up indicating that the undersigned believe 100% that Levein's comments concerning McURRY are the truth.

Every Dundee U fan and every Celtic fan would sign it.
But McURRY's bias was soooo obvious, I reckon almost every non-rangers football fan in Scotland would sign it.

That would take the number of signatories well into 6 figures. That would give the bluenoses at the sfa something to ponder before they start their sanctimonious rant agains Levein.
It would make the sfa realise how isolated from public opinion that they are in this matter.

Officials at games will always get marginal decisions wrong - they are human. TV evidence should be made available to them, where possible, via the fourth official for contentious decisions.
Also, any player, in any game whatsoever, who is seen to strike another player off the ball, but is caught on TV, should have the appropriate card issued, post match. This happened years ago to John Robertson of Hearts after striking Tommy Burns.
After yesterday, the football authorities must be seen to do something to introduce technology to help the officials.
However, what we all witnessed yesterday was not marginal at all.
The Ref should publicly apologise for his mistakes, that's if they were mistakes, and not choices!
If they were choices, he should never referee another game, period.

McCurry is an absolute disgrace and should never be allowed anywhere near a Rangers game ever again. I can't be bothered reading the attempts by Rangers fans on this thread to divert attention away from the injustices put on Dundee United by McCurry.

No matter what "lucky" breaks other teams get at times from "poor" refereeing decisions, nothing can compare with the obvious bias of McCurry towards Rangers. He should be ashamed of himself and in his faith, no church anywhere would support such blatant favouritism towards Rangers.

To the decent Rangers fans who acknowledge the unfairness of McCurry's decisions, enjoy your day in Manchester, but like most true Scottish football fans that believe in fairness, there are few who hope you succeed, the majority hope Rangers get humped in Manchester.

Anyway when you confess you have to be sincere that you will not deliberately do the same act and sin again.

But as we can see from the Corruption Is Successful final, and in Basket-Balls-Semi before that,The Very Reverend The Mike McCurry has no intention of changing his corrupt practises.

And yes,all those outside Rearrangers F.C. should form some sort of petition.

Organise a march, make known the feelings of the ordinary Scottish Football supporter towards these corrupt practises that are being encouraged in our game.

Petition the Scottish government in Edinburgh.

Scottish Society would give that sort of protest its full backing.
Of that I am ceratin.

Corruptions and cheats that benefit Rearrangers F.C. must be called to book.

26 points have unfairly been given Celtic's way over the course of the season, yet now we have conspiracy theories because Utd didn't get a soft penalty and the referee, unlike many "commentors" actually interferes with play.

Hunt miscontrols the ball then goes down easily, in the same manner as Kevin Thomson by flicking a leg out. Somehow, the bigoted minds of the Celtic fans think that Thomson should have been red-carded for a dive, yet Hunt should have had a penalty. You guys really do set new standards in hypocrisy.

As for the supposed disallowed goal, the Utd player approaches Weir with the ball near him, forcing him to play it and also raises a foot, in an attempt to either kick or step over the ball. Either way, it's interfering with play.

De Vries, Hunt, Flood and Wilkie could all have walked but Levein only sees Cousin, who probably did deserve to go, and Broadfoot for a "punch" which only Levein saw, or more accurately imagined.

Levein has let himself down and came across like a Harry Enfield character such as Kevin or Perry. "It's so unfair!"

We expect this childishness from Celtic fans, their eccentrically loopy manager, war criminal chairman and sleazy cheif executive. I never thought Levein would stoop so low, but he should rightly be hammered for a blatant accusation of cheating, after losing control in an match.

Yes. The last Old Firm match where Vennegoor remained on the pitch after an intentional throat high karate kick, McDonald's offside goal stands, Hartley, McGeady and Naylor lucky to remain on the pitch, all topped of with a penalty that was a foul to Rangers after a stamp and trip by McDonald followed by Whittaker going off for what Hartley, McGayday and Naylor remained on the pitch.

You can add in the game at Falkirk, where Falkirk should have had three penalties, McManus should have been sent off for breaking a player's leg, Falkirk having a good goal disallowed and McDonald's offside "goal" standing.

Also, O'Neil wouldn['t have won one title without referee help in his first Old Firm game.

Levein endorsed a view held by Celtic fans for generations...bring in foreign referees for scottish football.

The trouble is, get rid of Andy Davis or Mike McURRY, for example, and another two will come in to take their place.

The pro-Rangers bias is engrained into Scottish football, always has been, and is incurable.

We just have to accept that the likes of McURRY and Davis will always be prepared to come along and give Rangers a leg up, in the knowledge that they will be protected by the sfa.
As Levein rightly said, if McURRY had made those decisions yesterday against Rangers, he would never referee another spl match.

So, as I suggested above, a petition supporting Levein should be organised , and the petition should call upon the sfa to engage the services of foreign referees. Ideally, muslim or jewish.

Shend for Sebo, Miss Moneypenny,

Can't be bothered reading all the whining on here, but why is it that when Aberdeen get a perfectly good goal chalked off against celtic; celtic get an offside goal to stand in the OF match and when celtic score from a corner that never was, there is no great conspiracy theory, but when a couple of decisions go Rangers way, it's the greatest conspiracy in the world? All of those dodgy decisions that went the way of celtic would have cost them the championship, so let's not have Idee Fixe, etc asking us to name one match where celtic got a decision in their favour which affected the outcome of a match.
I for one hope the SPL bring in foreign refs so that, when the Mighty Glasgow Rangers make a clean
