DAVID MURRAY yesterday revealed that an announcement could be made as early as May on the £670m plans to transform Ibrox into a 70,000-capacity "events centre", calling for an end to the "cynicism" surrounding the project that he claims would involve regenerating the entire Govan area.
He also praised manager Walter Smith for a "remarkable" regeneration of the team's fortunes that has allowed them to harbour ambitions of a treble after last week's CIS Cup win.

As well as announcing that juvenile season ticket prices would be re
duced next season and that Rangers will give out their 2,400 allocation for the away leg of their UEFA Cup quarter-final against Sporting Lisbon to supporters for free as a thank-you for their backing, Murray said the club's long-term stadium plans remained on course. "What we are working on is real so please don't be cynical," he said.

"My reputation is on the line and I have put a lot of work into this. The plans are at an advanced stage. There are various proposals and we will lodge an outline planning application followed by a detailed application. It was not our choice to bring it into the public domain and it is a very big development but by the beginning of May we hope to be able to let people know our options.

"We could either develop everything or do it in sections. We have been enthused by the level of interest from our partners, investors and shareholders. People want to get involved in what would not just be a football stadium.

"That would only be 20% of the revenue and we would host concerts, boxing, other sporting events and business seminars. Glasgow City Council leader Steven Purcell made it very clear when Glasgow won the Commonwealth Games that as well as regenerating the east end there was a duty to regenerate the Govan area."

Murray's more immediate development concerns will centre around the Rangers squad, and he maintained that his financial support in the summer will measure up to the £10m spent on new arrivals last close season.

"We are in a strong financial position and will post a healthy profit and will again invest heavily in players. We balanced the buying and selling with the (£9m] sale of Alan Hutton. The funds are available and Walter had several million to spend in January but he chose not too. We are obviously going to strengthen and already have a plan in place. We are on the way up and whatever happens in the rest of the season Walter has been responsible for a remarkable turnaround."

Good on Sir David Murray, rewarding the fans, investing in the squad and redeveloping Ibrox, not just the stadium ,to an extent that will leave our rivals trailing in our wake.

I think that Celtic will be going into a sever decline very soon. They don't have our global brand and have to resort to gimmickry such as Naka and Koki signings, whilst their season ticket holders are in decline.

They'll also have to consider the short life span of those temporary stands that Fergus constructed on the cheap.

rangers executive says it ok to cheat ,in a shock interview martin bain wants an extension to the league an unprecedented move unheard of in scottish football ,bain is exerting pressure on the spl to commit to an extension of the of the league
earlier in the season rangers were givin special dispensation by the spl to postpone there match against the now bankrupt gretna to prepare for a european tie in which resulted in a 3-0 defeat
this extension would be viewed with alarm says a ueafa spokes man as certain players need to be available and prepared for the upcoming european championship, the ueafa spokesman goes on to say what rangers fc are trying to break the rules and is adamant to cheating

So Murray has clearly stated the press that 'It was not our choice to bring it into the public domain'. So, why did the journalist(s) not ask the glaringly obvious question of whose choice it was then?
Did he use a go between in his poodle press to print it in order to publicise it. Who?
You're supposed to question sweeping unsubstantiated statements as part of your job for heaven's sake.
How many of his statements about development projects have come to fruition? Ask yourselves, who would invest £670m in a stadium in Scotland? How will they make money on it? Or do you you think it's all been done for the love of sport? And why such an exact figure? To make it sound as if it's all been planned out? Then where is the artist's impression of it. Who is teh architect. Have you spoken to the architect, the developer, the council?
Honestly, when will the Scottish press show this man up for what he is. He makes fools all of you and then sits back and laughs at the headlines.

Well, he laughs at the headlines when he isn't smugly massaging his pathetic childish ego. Any chance of seeing the FULL Rangers accounts Murray? Or explaining who some of your investors over the years have been and where they got their money from? That should wipe the smirk off his face.

You appear to be hinting at something, come on then ,tell the waiting world.
Sir David, did say we would hear more in May.
If you know it all, then we don`t have to wait untill then,do we...or are you simply,in-credible?

Rangers chief executive Martin Bain has hit back at Celtic as the row over the remaining fixtures in the Scottish Premier League rumbles on.

Bain believes Celtic's veiled plea to the SPL not to extend the season to ease the Light Blues' congested fixture list was based on the fear of losing their title to the Ibrox men.

Bain's Parkhead counterpart, Peter Lawwell, turned the pressure on the SPL on Friday by suggesting that an extension to the season would "threaten the integrity" of the competition.

You want hard facts mate?
Dave King - do you know he's a director - why don't you google his background?
Accounts - refuses to publish all the details by hiding behind the private company excuse, which he's entitled to do - but that hardly encourages investors.
Stadium - valued in the accounts at £100m - twice its value. The whole club is worth £70m.

What stuns me about some of the Rangers supporters is that you just have to check it yourself to see it doesn't add up.
Or have you stopped for one moment to take a neutral view and think the stadium tosh is about trying to get publicity as he continues to try to flog your club. Or don't tell me - he doesn't want to sell it now and he loves the club and the supporters...
How's the JJB deal going for you? Have you checked the actual facts of where it leaves you in the medium to long term? Because it will be coming back to haunt you soon. Better hope Wigan stay in the Premiership mate. 1 more fact - the £50m share issue - the fans weren't interested in buying the shares and, more worryingly, neither were any private or corporate investors. That's why Murray had to underwrite virtually the whole himself. Now, that is a hard fact barometer of interest in the club - ZILCH!Cos believe me, you'd have heard about it by now.
And as for extending the season - which other league has done that? The SPL is a joke and admittedly Strachan is making hard work of it. But at least you can check our FULL accounts anytime. Rangers is a HOUSE OF CARDS.

29th of April 2007...?
I think you`ll find things, have changed, since then.lol
So, Sir David Murray(The Businessman)wants to sell, his business on after 20 years?
He has served Rangers well.
Lawrence Marlborough, lived in Nevada, and was not a consistent figure at Ibrox.
Sir David Murray,is and has every right to remain a businessman.
You still haven`t told us anything

If you don't want to check it for yourself then I'm not doing it for you. Just because you say I'm talking nonsense because you can't be bothered checking facts doesn't make you right and me wrong. There's plenty of sources of reference if you care at all about truth rather than one man's spouting. Just don't tell me I'm wrong until you've checked. Good luck to you.
