BAA should sell Edinburgh, as it would attract a much higher price than Glasgow in these troubled economic times. Edinburgh could then focus on the business sector leaving Glasgow to battle Prestwick for budget flights.

Is it really necessary for BAA to divest itself of either airport in the name of competition, especially at a time when we are nationalising banks and creating uncompetitive behemoths like Lloyds and Santander? They are the result of the free market taking far too great risks with people’s savings in the interests of chasing delusory profits. It would be a disaster indeed if our airports did the same thing risking passengers safety and security from terrorist attack, don’t you think?
