Yes. Loads of employers are going to go down the AON route of slashing their contributions, leaving employees to either take what amounts to a hefty pay cut via higher contributions from their own salaries to match previous contributions made by their employer. Or, of course, they can delay the agony by raising the retirement age and building up pension entitlements at a slower rate. With the majority of people unable to afford the 'salary cut' option, there are bound to be more poor sods still slaving away when they should be on the golf course... if they can still afford the membership!

They can try to keep us working until we drop, but most of us are chucked on the scrapheap in our mid-fifties whether we like it or not. What’s more, if longevity goes on increasing that way it has done, any extra cash from taxes won’t be going into our pensions, but into the bottomless pit of care for the elderly, which is the primary ‘job’ of so many spouses.
