T in the Park: Biffy Clyro review

THE theme is red, black and white. Red for the skinny jeans, black for the tattoos and the electric guitars, and white for the bare, pasty torsos. Who else could it be but Ayrshire's own Biffy Clyro?

The band who have played T in the Park more than any other were on top rocking form on the main stage early evening, emerging out of the smoke and flashing lights to take to the stage looking every bit the hard, hairy rockers that they are. A highlight of T in the Park 2008, lead singer Simon Neil might officially have earned his stripes as Scotland's greatest rock god after tonight's monumental performance.

With a guitar change for every track (and for what he puts it through, he needs it), he pounds and then gently picks at his instrument before unleashing a great wave of noise on the salivating audience. And the songs? Great, thick slabs of rock so heavy you could do damage with them.

The crowd includes the infamous Team Biffy, the band's cult following and they scream along to every line, with many a Biffy chant along the way. I spot ten year old girls and their ageing rocker dads punching the air. The perfect festival band.
