RED TOP REVIEW

Glamour toddler's a mini-Imelda

We all know girls who have a weakness for shoes, but surely this is going too far? The Sun reports that Jordan's one-year-old daughter Princess Tiaamii has more than 100 pairs of shoes - and she can't even walk yet. The 30-year-old model told the tabloid: "Anyone who comes in her room says, 'Oh my God, has she got enough shoes?'

"She's got over a hundred pairs and her clothes are ridiculous - she's got a wardrobe but I've had to order three more because all her clothes are on rails.

"She'll never wear it all but I can't help buying all this stuff." Jordan was speaking to The Sun before flying to LA for a boob reduction op.

Nutini's a hit in Beijing

Is there no end to Paolo Nutini's talents? Not only is he the best soul singer Scotland has produced in a generation, and a sex symbol to boot, now the lad from Paisley is one of the hits of the Beijing Olympics. The Daily Record reports that Paolo was performing in a concert in China this week and did a duet with the world's fastest man, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, and is now the talk of the athletes' village. The sprinter even played drums at the concert, which was hosted by the Jamaican team to mark the country's 46th independence day.

Nutini told the Record: "It was a great night of unity in a country where there's so much unrest."

Cancer mum's gifts for the future

Sometimes only the tabloids can do proper justice to a heart-breaking human interest story. And so it is with The Mirror's tale of young mum Lucy Carr, who only has weeks to live after being diagnosed with cancer.

The 27-year-old has decided to buy a present for every birthday her young daughter Abigail will celebrate without her mum. So there's a silver charm bracelet for when she's 16. And a heart-shaped locket for her wedding day. Desperately sad - but also life-affirming.

Standard Life reports healthy revenues

Standard Life has reported a 51% rise in profits for the first half of 2008. The life and pensions company said that, despite difficult market conditions, the outlook for its net flows, sales and profitability remained positive.

The firm said operating profit, on an embedded value basis, totalled £534m in the first six months of the year. Its profits were boosted by a deal it signed in February with Canada Life to reinsure £6.7bn of its annuity liabilities. Life and pension sales (on a present value of new business premiums basis) rose 5% to £9.1bn and its new business contribution rose 4% to £157m.

ITV profits tumble

Broadcaster ITV has reported a fall in profits of 28% for the first half of the year and said advertising revenues will continue to be flat. Its adjusted pre-tax profit was £91m for the six-month period, but, allowing for one-off charges, it made a £1.54bn loss.

Laughs behind bars

If you haven't caught the late night comedy treat that is The Visit, then grab your chance tonight. Set in the visiting room of a prison, and written by Tony Burgess (not to be confused with Anthony - this one is the guy behind Wallace and Gromit, and Ideal), the deadpan sitcom plays out the restrictive nature of the relationships between inmates and loved ones with wit and charm.

• The Visit, BBC 1 Scotland, 10.45pm

FASHION

Looking rough

Alexa Chung has thrown everything on here: shorts, shoes, T-shirt, cardigan, raincoat and what looks suspiciously like a sleeping bag. Is Alexa sleeping rough? Does that explain why she seems to be wearing all her clothes at once?

Essex Diaz

There are many things to like about Cammy's outfit - the corset top fits her beautifully, though a pleated skirt would work well on someone with better knees. But why pick something in such a drab colour? And what's with the white stilettos?

Perfect match

Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn, co-ordinating bleugh outfits in a fetching shade of yuck. At least they're together and not ruining anyone else's outfit.

Messi told to stay away from Olympics

The Olympic Games are to be deprived of one of the world's best footballers after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that Argentina's Lionel Messi should not be allowed to play in Beijing.

Messi must now return to his club, Barcelona, and prepare for the start of the Spanish league season.

Fifa, the world football's governing body, had ruled that Messi should go to the Olympics, but following a complaint by Barcelona the decision has been overturned by CAS. CAS also ruled that Werder Bremen's Diego and Rafinha of Schalke, both Brazilian, can be prevented from playing in the Beijing Games.
