Olympic hopefuls near the start line
Britain's athletics team for the Beijing Olympics will be announced today, with uncertainty still surrounding two of the biggest names.
Sprinter Dwain Chambers' place in the squad hinges on a High Court ruling on Wednesday. Chambers, who has served a ban for doping, is mounting a legal challenge against the British Olympic Association byelaw which prevents convicted drug cheats from taking part in the Games, arguing that this is a restraint of trade.
Marathon world-record-holder Paula Radcliffe's participation in the Games is in doubt because of injury. She will undergo tests at the British Olympic Medical Institute in London today to see if she is winning her race to recover from a stress fracture in her left thigh.
Scotland's Hayley Haining will replace her in the squad if Radcliffe doesn't make it.
