Comedy review: Scott Gibson: Life After Death
Star rating: ***
Venue: Gilded Balloon Teviot (Venue 14)
Totally spoiled Homes Under the Hammer. He assumed it was one of those migraine things people claimed to have when throwing a sickie, but it was in fact far, far worse.
That’s the thrust of former call centre manager Gibson’s first Fringe show, an amiable hour in which he lays bare what it felt like to face a life-threatening condition. If you’ve been in a similar situation, you’ll likely recognise his attempts to embrace denial, rather than face mortality. It’s a raw, insightful hour, honest to the core.

Hide AdGlaswegian Gibson manages to balance the seriousness of his tale with moments of black humour, making for a quietly compelling show. Well, ‘quietly’ in one sense – Gibson would do well to lose the comedic tic of SHOUTING AT THE AUDIENCE – at least when in a venue as intimate as this… for a minute, I thought I had a migraine.
Until 29 August. Today 2:45pm.
