Unbeaten season is Rangers' motivation now, as ex-Ibrox captain Richard Gough warns current generation of title 'switch-off'
The central defender is one of the most decorated Rangers captains in the club’s past having led the team through a dominant decade in the 1990s.
But he admitted that once leagues were one and celebrations took hold, he and his team-mates took their foot off the gas – but Steven Gerrard has another record to seek to keep the current generation on track after clinching title 55.

Hide AdGough said: “I was in nine Rangers teams that managed to win leagues early – one of them we went to the last game against Aberdeen – but most were won with three or four games to go and we switched off to be fair.
"The team of my generation switched off once we had won the league – there is such an outpouring and celebration, like there has been with the players recently.”
But speaking on Sky Sports News, the former Everton and Spurs defender, and ex-Livingston manager added: “The motivation for Steven [Gerrard] is the wee bit different from my time, I think he’ll be saying along the lines of ‘Guys we can go through this season undefeated’. That will be an achievement I don’t think has been done before in Rangers history, and they have got six games left to do it.”
