There is exactly one month to go until Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad head to Germany for Euro 2024 and still a number of players are sweating on their fitness ahead of the tournament.
A number of players have picked up knocks in recent weeks, with the likes of Kieran Tierney, Scott McTominay and Nathan Patterson all missing games for their respective club sides ahead of next month’s tournament.
It is not all bad news though, with a trio of players returning to first team action this past fortnight and no further concerns reported over the weekend.
However, with numerous players struggled to be fit ahead of the opening game against Germany, we look at every injury concern Scotland have and assess their chances of being included in the squad for the Euros.
1. Nathan Patterson - DOUBT
The ex-Rangers man is a big doubt for the tournament following surgery on hamstring injury he picked up against Chelsea on April 15. Toffees boss Sean Dyche said it "looked serious" at the time and he will face a race to be fit for Euro 2024. However, it isn't looking positive at present. 2. Lewis Ferguson - OUT
Scotland's Lewis Ferguson is definitely out of Euro 2024 after suffering an ACL injury. Expected return date: January 2025. Photo: Joris Verwijst
3. Stuart Armstrong - DOUBT
He was carried off on a stretcher in Southampton's 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City back on April 20. The ex-Celtic man has been ruled out of the Saints' play off campaign and now faces a race against time to be fit for the Euros. Saints boss Russell Martin did say they "would do everything" to get him fit for the tournament though in a recent press conference. Expected return date: Early to mid-June. 4. Grant Hanley - FIT
Match fitness aside, it appears the Norwich City centre-back is ready for the Euros after making his comeback from injury in the recent 2-2 draw with Swansea City. He was on the bench for the Canaries in the play off semi final first leg draw with Leeds United too. Expected return date: He's currently fit and available but severely lacking match fitness.
