'Saving themselves for the Euros', 'Penalties are only way to win', 'Last week heroes, this week bang average' : Fans react to Scotland's defeat in Israel
Some struggled to smile through their social media accounts though – but some did.
@21_dougie: “Always a hard ask after the euphoria of last week. The players looked jaded, not the same box to box energy we had before. Also bad luck to have Israel again, who would be smarting for revenge, so soon after beating them on pens!”

Hide AdCraig McIntyre: “Disappointing outcome from the group, but I think we have reached our level for now. Much harder to score against, but we need to improve our cutting edge. Great progress made so far, but Rome wasn't built in a day.”
Neil Thomson: “Back to typical Scotland. Poor management for last two team selections. Should have had won it on Sunday so tonight wasn’t a stress.”
Danny Watters: “Qualifying for the Euros was the main objective yes, but those back to back defeats are rotten. It highlights that we don't have enough goals in the team, we're often wasteful in possession and we're vulnerable in defence. McTominay was woeful tonight, and don't forget it was him who let Serbia score the last minute equaliser. If we lost that penalty shootout, Steve Clarke just now would have a good chance of getting sacked. Anyways, onwards and upwards. We need to find a way to fit Forrest and Fraser in the team once they are back.”
Liam McMonies: “Horrific. Did we just get lucky against Serbia? Our tactics seem to be playing to snatch a goal and see it out. When we lose a goal we are found out.”
Robert MacBrayne: “Looks like penalties are the only way Scotland can win.”
@BOBTAYL01081689: “Last week heroes. This week...bang average at best.”
@gavinrpaterson: “Good to see the lads saving themselves for the Euros next summer.”
@johnfinlayson13: “It is what it is we move on everybody would have taken qualifying for euros and losing these 2 beforehand.”
