Ex-Scotland defender Dominic Matteo reveals recovery from brain tumour
The 45-year-old had surgery in November to remove the growth and has undergone six months of rehabilitation.
Matteo revealed the news on Twitter and thanked the staff at Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s Hospital.

“After six months of fear pain rehab surgery and treatment. I’m healthy! It feels unreal!
“The LGI &St James hospital saved my life. They were simply incredible. Thankyou will never be enough!”
Matteo, who represented Scotland six times, retired in 2007 after stints at Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City. The Dumfries-born player made his international debut in a friendly defeat against Australia at Hampden in 2000. He played in the 2002 World Cup qualifiers against Belgium, twice, Croatia and San Marino the following year. His final cap came in a 5-0 loss to then world and European champions France in Paris in March 2002 in what was Berti Vogts’ first match in charge as Scotland manager.
