Hibs plan new bid for Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths
The Edinburgh club were hopeful of signing the 24-year-old on a 93-day emergency loan back in September, but Celtic eventually decided that they wanted to keep him as back-up as they juggled domestic matters with competing in the Europa League. Griffiths signed a four-year deal with Celtic back in January, but has struggled to establish himself, particularly since Ronny Deila replaced Neil Lennon as manager. He has started only four matches this season and only one since August, and even a double in a League Cup win over Partick Thistle in October wasn’t enough to force him more prominently into Deila’s plans.
Hibs are keen to recruit more quality and Griffiths, who still lives in Edinburgh and excelled during two seasons on loan at Easter Road from previous club Wolves, is seen as the ideal man to augment an attack which already boasts Dominique Malonga and Farid El Alagui.
