Video: spire placed on One World Trade Centre
The spire was raised on Friday to a height of 1,776 feet and sits atop a building rising where the twin towers were destroyed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
The video shows the workers below and Manhattan as the spire is hoisted in the air.

The structure is intended to be a beacon for aircraft and a permanent signal of triumph over extremists who crashed planes into both of the previous World Trade Centre towers.
The spire gives the building the extra height needed to claim the status as the tallest structure in the U.S. and the third-tallest in the world,
The building is scheduled to open in 2014.
