Video: First 3D-printed gun assembled and fired
The ‘Liberator’ is made up of 16 parts, with 15 of these created by a printer which builds up layers of plastic to create three-dimensional and complex objects. The design is completed with a simple nail from a DIY shop.
The company behind the gun, Defense Distributed, have released video of the weapon’s first firing as well as some of the processes involved in its creation.

Hide AdCody Wilson, the company’s founder, has defended the project amid concern from the authorities in the US and Europe.
Wilson said: “I recognize that this tool might be used to harm people. That’s what it is — it’s a gun.
“But I don’t think that’s a reason to not put it out there. I think that liberty in the end is a better interest.”
