Labour to reveal Reservists discrimination policy
The announcement will come on Wednesday in a debate on a 10 minute rule bill by Dunfermline and West Fife MP Thomas Docherty.
Mr Docherty’s bill which stands no chance of becoming law in this parliament is aimed at coinciding with Remembrance week and would make discrimination against people in the armed forces illegal.

The move is aimed at helping to support recruitment for the Reservists who are expected to fill in the gaps left by the 30,000 regulars cut from the forces since 2010.
Vernon Coaker MP, Labour’s shadow defence spokesperson said: “There are still too many members of our Armed Forces who face discrimination as they go about their daily lives. In the days leading up to Remembrance Sunday, it’s sad to think that those who fight for our country might need the protection of our laws, but some do.
“That’s why Labour is supporting a change to the law so that for the first time ever it would be a specific criminal offence to attack members of our Armed Forces. But David Cameron’s government refuses to act.
“Our dedicated and committed servicemen and women should be treated with the dignity that their bravery deserves.”
Mr Docherty added: “My Bill is an important step forward in ensuring that those that make huge sacrifices for our country are able to enjoy the freedoms they work so hard to defend. The government should join Labour and MPs from all parties to introduce this long overdue protection to those brave men and women who serve our nation.
“It is only right that those who risk their lives overseas to protect our freedom are themselves protected from mindless yobs and from bigotry when they return home.”
