Tipple tipped to make £20k
A RARE bottle of whisky was set to go under the hammer in Edinburgh today, with experts predicting it could fetch up to £20,000.
The 1883 Glenlivet, described as a much sought-after collector’s item, was being auctioned off today as part of the Bonhams whisky sale.
Distilled on May 19, 1883, and bottled in December 1931 by George & John Gordon Smith, the bottle was originally the property of Captain William Smith Grant. Captain Smith Grant was the great grandson of Colonel George Smith, founder of The Glenlivet Distillery.
