Tern-up for the bird books
The UK's oldest known Arctic tern has been discovered on the Farne Islands, 30 years after it was ringed as a chick.
The bird was tagged on the islands off the coast of Northumberland on 28 June, 1980, by a team of warders including John Walton, now National Trust property manager for the area, who was on hand when it was re-caught.
